We have a few songs about little girls, but seldom they are heard. None of them approaches the adorable, Mighty Lak a Rose That Little Boy of Mine, "Tommy Lad and many others. Now, you with the long fingernails and cigarette, I will tell you why the songs of little boys are so much more popular. The composer of songs, in travels far and wide, so rarely finds a little boy any different from the rest, that when one is found, it is such a novelty, that it inspires a song right away. If any of you wish to know of the whereabouts of little boys possessed with charming personalities that would inspire any normal person with thots that, at last here is one well worth a million, take a good look at those little fellows of Paul Edwards and Dr. Mer-ri- l. All little girls are so nice that, the composers no sooner would get started telling about one, than a second and third show up and gets our composer so befuddled that the song is never finished. How am I doin? Many of us recall the song of the little girl talking to her "mammy are there any angels black - like me? Isnt that right cute? Then of course there are scads of songs about the girls after they are to big to play with a doll, for instance the obnoxious and overworked "Sweet Adeline." The very popular Isle of Capre coming from every part of the compass, perhaps owes its popularity to the fact that any person having had a dozen lessons on any instrument can play it off at sight, because the music is simple and easy. The words are rather amusing because such conduct is almost unheard of only in song or story. - The hero of the song has quite a case on this senorita, and when he saw a plain golden ring on her finger, he moved on, perhaps he remembered of being shot at by other husbands, or he may have been a true blue gen tleman and having plenty respect and reverence for marriage vows, who knows? Anyway some other cases similar to this in the song, she emits this phrase to the stranger Its best not to linger, and instead she leaves a note on the table Dear Hubby, I have to go to a club meeting, so you get yourself some bread and milk, dont wait up for me, but get yourself some sleep so you wont be late for work. Then she says to this Romeo, come big boy, lets go places. Alright, so much for the comedy, if it can be called such, the vast majority of girls become women and inspire song writers with tender and wholesome thots as in the song, Mother McCree and also one that has come thru many years and is still very popular, Who is Sylvia, the words by William Shakespeare who was born about i FOR RENT Typewriters, Guns, Kalsomine brushes.
