Lewis in the presidency of the Cache Stake High Priests, vhich position he held until the stake was divided on June 5, 1920. On June 2, 1917 he was made a Patriarch. was Among his varied activities that of pioneering. In the 60s he and Charles E. Gunnel1 pioneered Blue Creek, and dug the first well in that locality. It was operated by a windmill. In 1866 he drove a four mule team between freighting. here and Montana, In 1868-- 9 he was grading on the railroad on both sides of Promontory. Has also served as min- U man during the Indian ute troubles, and became very well acquainted wih six Indian chiefs..
