Show AT THE ART AIM exhibition the pleasure 0 of attending the art exhibition during daring the past week and the number of paintings on exhibition exceeded our j 1 expectations as well as the characteristic 1 te effect displayed by some of the exhibitors and we feel that the society of uth utah artists should receive the congratulations and encouragement coura gement of all alf lovers of art f for or the creditable exhibition IL among the many paintings we saw i we will mention a few as our space forbids an extended review of all one that attracted our attention 1 and that would charm all alk lovers of nature hangs upon the west wall sunny Yas pastures tures by H L A culmer calmer the artist has portrayed a bright spot in our own beautiful talley stalley the scene being taken from mear farmington and represents a of cattle grazing in rich meadow land through which a bright sparkling mountain brook auns tuns and the rich waving grasses lend great charm to the picture while a glimpse of sky and distant foliage form an excellent background the wasatch mountains by J T harwood on a large canvass im impresses one with the beauty and grandeur of utah this skilled artist seems to have a natural gift for portraying the great beauties of nature lature the suns sans reflected rays on the mountains mout ains are beautifully wrought out and ana the rough effect in the foreground is very realistic we saw a number of canvasses devoted to flowers among the many we admired wai was a basket of i chrysanthemums by mrs H R H harwood arwood pink yellow and white are all thrown carelessly in a basket yet this clever artist has them so arranged that all the colors har ra onize the rough wicker basket i is brought out in good effect we sincerely hope that all lovers of art anti and admirers of the true and beautiful will avail themselves of the opportunity of visiting the third annual exhibit of the society of utah artists 67 east first south |
