Show Page ; Yld Cat 4 There has been a tremendous turnout for baseball, which should give us a hint as to how well we will do in both and regional clashes. As long as the season is getting underway, I feel called upon to state my major league predictions. Ill take the Chicago White Sox to cop the honors in a rough 10 team American League. They will be closely followed by Baltimore, in second, and Cleveland in third. Ill take Detroit for fourth followed by the Bronx Bombers, (who will be more of the Bronx Bombed), the New SPORTS FAN WITH VAN pre-seas- Howdy there, sports fans. The world of sports has been going at such a mad pace, I wouldnt be surprised if it exploded and went into orbit. On the basketball scene, we may not show it, but everyone is very happy with the fine showing which Utah University made in the N.C.A.A. tournament well, almost everybody. Now that college cage clashes have stopped on the B.Y.U. maples, we since have witnessed n some very fine games. as a would like to school, We, send sincere congratulations to the great Pleasant Grove Vikings, who did so well representing our region in the Class B Tournament. They not only copped the title, as expected, but e also dominated the quint. These fine showings by both the Vikings and American Fork, statewide, showed what a tough region we have been playing in. York Yankes, in fifth. To follow these, I wil go along with the Minnesota Twins, Los Angelesj Kansas City, Boston, and Washington ip that order. In the National League, I pick the Pirates to repeat. They will be followed, in order, by: San Francisco, Cincinnati, Milwaukee, Los Angeles, St. Louis, Chicago, and Philadelphia bringing up the rear. This is better than the car- de- cathlon, and everyone who will not graduate this year, will have the chance to look forward to it next year. The boys each selected 10 events to compete in. These events have been completed, and the winners announced. The winner of the class A trophy is Alec Andrus. John Paxman trailed him all the woy by a very small margin. The class B winer was Phil Swenson. C The class championship fell to speedy Doug Young. This decathlon was one step in a great movement at B.Y. The grinding half hour per day was taking its toll. Ned Ashby can be seen at times walking through the halls of dear B.Y. High with light blue bermuda shorts. Dont panic, Ned hasnt forgotten where he is. It is the custom of Dixie tennis players to wear such things and Ned just hasnt graduated to our level yet. Putting all joking aside the tennis team representing B.Y. High this year will be one of the strongest this school has ever seen.
