These words of Dr. Stephen L. Alley, acting dean of the College of Education at BYU, rang through the hearts of the students 1967 throughout last Friday. The announcement of the school closing down was made in a faculty meeting early Friday morning by Dr. Earl C. Crockett, assistant to President Ernest L. . Chons Christmas Concert Monday For the 20th year, Brigham Young High Schools vocal groups will present a special Christmas Concert free to the public, according to Fred Webb, director. The concert will be given Monday in the Concert Hall of the Harris Fine Arts Center at BYU, beginning at 8 p.m. Groups singing in the program are the A Cappelia Choir, made up of high school students; seventh and eighth grade choruses; a mixed ensemble; and a girls ensemble. All students now attending BY High will be absorbed by their respective school districts upon the completion of the year. Currently there are 580 students enrolled in the various classes, kindergarten through twelfth grades. Dr. Wilkinson paid the following tribute to BY High: "In making this announcement, the Board of Trustees and the administration of Brigham Young University wish to pay tribute to the host of teachers and administrators who have given dedicated service to the laboratory school throughout its existence. The devotion of these staff members, along with that of many patrons and thousands of stucients who have supported and attended the school through the years, las established tradition which will long be remembered and . . |
