Students at BY High during the past two months have received little messages from the computer on the bottom invitational Editorials BY of their daily schedules. Some students (and teachers, too) write notes in return to the friendly computer. One such student, a seventh grader by the name of Janet Oveson, was happily embarrassed last Friday when her schedule was passed to her in the scheduling group. It read as follows: A special message to' Janet Oveson. I didnt know you were so lonely or 1 would have written you long ago. Love, your friendly computer. Janet thought, apparently, rather intimate (writing that she was getting and all that stuff!) love notes with the computer. Much to her surprise, the computers return love note was pinted on the schedules of the entire seventh grade! (Youd be embarrassed too if someone read your love notes!) 3 Stars shine on terrific Prom and they did! Three Stars Will Shine Congratulations to the junior class for sponsoring a splendid evening the Junior Prom, under the chairmanship of Julie Anderson. The place, the season, and the occasion WERE three stars that participants wont forget for a long, long time. Selected as Prom King and Queen were Steve Cruze and Karen Andersen. Next years juniors should carry on the tradition of attempting to make their Prom unique and a little better, a customarv challenge to anv class. Sondra Young captures fourth in at state gym meet all-arou- nd Sondra Young captured fourth category place in the at the State Gymnastics Meet held Saturday. April 15, at Granall-arou- ger High School. Sondra received second place in optional floor exercise and came back with a third in compulsory floor exercise. She gained a fifth in optional vaulting and placed six tli in compulsory vaulting, She gained enough points in these areas to capture fourth gymnast. place as the Sondra Young. a senior, capgymnast tured the honors at the Regional Gymnastic Meet held in the Richards Physical Education Building at BYU on 'March 30. In gaining honors, won first Sondra places in the optional uneven parallel bars, optional balance beam, optional floor exercise, floor exercise, and optional vaulting. She also placed all-arou- all-arou- all-arou- second in the balance beam and fourth in the uneven parallel bars and vaulting. Sharon Huntington, a sophomore, was the only other participant from BY High in the meet. She placed sevemth in beginning floor exercise and vaulting, and eighth in the parallel bars. The Regional Meet was for all high schools south of the point of the mountain. Schools participating in the competition were Emery. Spanish Fork, Springville, East Carbon, Orem, American Fork, and BY High Schools. The girls softball and track teams have also been practicing. Miss Earlene Durrant is coach of all of the teams. The BY High track team, after a good showing so far this year, is now preparing to face the stiff competition in the annual BYU Invitational Track and Field Meet to be held this Saturday on the modern asphalt track. Wildcats expect to gain considerable points in the meet with Steve and Stan Bergeson in running events along with Jess Ellis and Dave Comer in the pole vault event. The BY thinclads also have good relay potential. Russ Maxfield will participate in the high jump. Following the BYU meet, BY High will host the Division and Region meets. Qualifying participants in the region meet will participate in the state track and field meet. Winning relays will also enter in a relay festival to be held at either the University of Utah or BYU campus. The only loss for the Wildcats to date has come at the hands of the Orem Tigers, 5 to 0.
