Roselie Hall Captures I Speak for Democracy Contest On November 13, the I g Speak For Democracy contest was held. The teachers of each class that participated selected students with the best speeches to compete. There were 23 in all. The two best speeches at B.Y. High were given by Ellen Keeler and Rosalie Hall. They competed with Doug Ellit and Kent Harrison on Nov. 15 for the Provo City championship. The winner, Rosalie Hall, will go to the state contest. The winner of the state will go to the National contest. The four four speeches were broadcast by K.O.V.O. Eight other B.Y. High students were chosen to give their speeches over the radio. They are, Gladys Nixon, Reed Miller, Robert Smith, Lynn Staheli, Louise Blackham, Cathryn Coltard, Raphael Andrus, and Nancy Briggs. lets the students of the B. So Y. RECORD Rex Olson, head basketball and baseball coach here at B. Y. U. ligh school, made it known Monday, Nov. 13, that he has accepted the position to take over the reins of basketball and baseball at Granite High in Salt Lake county. In addition to being head coach in these two sports, he will assist Don Dixon, Granite High football mentor. Ooach Olson, himself, graduated from Granite High in 1940, where he lettered in basketball, baseball, and football. Commenting on his two and one-ha- lf years here at B. Y. U.
