Show by ANDY CAF CAFFEY FEY LOGAN nov 22 12 the 1921 ncholos tic football season was the most successful that cache valley has ever enjoyed the action of 0 the utah high school association in placing B bos ox elder and bear river in this division tended intended to give the competition a much broader and keener scope box elder winners of the division championship clearly displayed their superiority over the other teams and typify the high standard ot of football that is played in this division holding the highly touted L D S team to a 2 to 0 score shows that the winner of 0 1 l this division is a force that must be reckoned with in deciding the state championship while there are many who will possibly figure that they have already made selections and that my selection bould be altered I 1 earnestly believe that this team as it stands would give plenty of worry to any scholastic grid team in the country roundy at center at center I 1 have placed roundy of bear river high ile he has played wonderful football all season and Is the backbone of ills his teams line on oil defense he has amea fe d most of the plays sent over lefin and cin offense has played steady football always displaying good head work the only center close to roundy Is Gardne logan but this season he has lacked the aggressiveness gressi veness that a center should show h ow heaton and steffen two box elder boys playing at guards are head and Is shoulders boulders above other center line men and are most deserving of places ion on the division team working with roundy they would make a combination that would be practically impregnable keller of logan and reeves of box elder at tackles have ripped large gaps through opposing r lines on offense off enge while ai at defense they have used their hands to a wonderful advantage stopping everything that was sent over them these boys are heavy and fast and would compare favorably with any line men in the state the ends would be well taken care of 0 with evans of logan and zundel of box elder both are very accurate on the receiving end of a forward pass and have gained much ground for their I 1 teams via the arial route both get down under punts very fast and as they hey are vicious tacklers tac klers have played with opposing safety men they have displayed a world of pep at all al times and have seen that their linemen were on their toes and playing the kind of ball they should call at quarterback V call of dox box ilder has been the one big shining tight light of this division and I 1 also give him the honor of captain as no ne has it at all times handled his team to ct t their greatest power and has asod the right plays at the right time to get et their greatest effee effectiveness eness he has hai been the greatest and most consistent ground gainer cainer in the division and has yet to ineer a team that could stop liis his brilliant open field running if there is one man in this worthy of 1 I all state cons id cratl z ari that mau is call and it will be awfully hard to keep him oft off ot of the state team sheffield of box elder and nash of logan give a pair of backs that form a mighty sweet combination they are both fast and hit the line with lightening like speed and power and have skirted the ends tor for big yardage in every game they have played on defense they are hard mean tackler tacklers tac klers and awfully hard to throw forward passes over at fullback I 1 have placed R maughn of south cache this boy is one of the greatest defensive backs I 1 have ever seen and it was his deadly tackling that kept south ol 01 cache ache well up in the running and made them feared by all the teams in this division on offense he is a battering ram of heavy hitting action and has repeatedly torn I 1 large gaps in opposing lines by ills his own power and strength I 1 believe that the above backfield back field selection would give elve an offense and 1 defense that would be hard to beat in the state and that at the same time tim you have four men who give you I 1 strength speed and power so as to enable you to use a variety of plays playe and formations that would be mighty hard bard to stop |
