Ilosea J. Dial has driven the school bus serving the Willard school and the Box Elder high school approximately 230,000 miles during his 27 year span of duty. This is the equivalent of nine and a half times around the earth and without injury to a single passenger in all of that time. Ilosea, who is now in his middle sixties, reluctantly relinquished command of the Willard bus because in his own words: I have been so successful this far I hate to take the chance of ruining my record with age creeping on me, i Perhaps part of the reason he has had no accidents can be attributed to luck, but undoubtedly the greatest factor is his conscientious and careful driving. Mr. Dial said in his letter of recommendation to Mr. Ilervin Bunderson, supervisor of - transportation of the Box Elder county school district, So far as I can recall now, I have covered the route every school day during the 27 years except three these were days when the roads between Willard and Brigham City were blocked to all road traffic. Such a record is indeed testimony of Mr. Dials devotion to his job and an indication that he has enjoyed phenomenally good ' health. . r Driving a bus is perhaps cnejof the nost;. difficult driving jobs there is. A stop on the highway is required for almost every student on the bus, and there is not a more susceptible way for an accident than stopon the highway. tv 'ping ' It requires meticulously careful driving, an 'alert constantly thinking mind, and a love for the kids on the bus to accomplish the feat Mr. Dial has. The average person with just the ordinary amount of driving has a least a couple of accidents during the time they spend driving and some will have as high as a dozen. ; It is indeed a proud record to drive every school day, with an average absence of only tone day in every 10 years, and to bring every passenger through safely that Mr. Dial has friends in San Francisco and Los Angeles.
