Temple Wedding mal Brigham City, Utah Friday, May 20. 1949 Amvets And Auxiliary Enjoy Evening Of Fun The Brigham City Amvet post met 7 and its auxiliary Wednesday evening, May 18 at the War Memorial home for an enjoyable evening of social en- No tertainment. The evening was spent playing rotary card games with prizes being awarded the high and low score holders, after which a delicious luncheon was served to 30 members present. In charge of refreshments for the party were Relda Lund, Mary Miller, Roxy Geisler and Cleo Dunn. The post and auxiliary extend a welcome to all eligible persons to attend their next evening, meeting, Wednesday June 1 at 8 oclock at the War Memorial home. v 'if fi v , ! A beautiful spring wedding was that of Mr. and Mrs. Grover Neil Harper of Corinne, Utah, who were married Thursday, April 28 in the Logan L. D. S. temple. President ElRay Christiansen officiated at the double ring ceremony. Mrs. Harper is the former Diane Davis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George L. Davis and the groom a son of Mr. and Mrs. Grover R. Harper, all of Corinne, A lovely wedding dinner was held at the Howard Hotel following the ceremony, for immediate members of both families. (Later that evening, a reception and dance honored the young couple at the Corinne L. D. S. recreation hall with a host of friends and relatives calling. For her "big moment, the lovely bride chose a gown of white brocaded satin with finger tip veil, held in place by a cornet of seed pearls. She carried a bridal bouquet of gardenias and pink carnations. Miss Marilyn Holmes, a cousin of the bride, was chosen maid of honor and was gowned in pink and carried a pink and white carnation nosegay in keeping with the flower color scheme. Bridesmaids, Miss Beverly Jean iFredricksen, Miss Elaine Davis and Miss Treva Harper, wearing pastel shades were also carrying nosegays of pink and white carnations. Lon Stallings acted as best man. In the receiving line also, were parents of the bride and groom. Mrs. Davis was lovely in a blue crepe and Mrs. Har per was gracious in tan crepe afternoon dresses with corsages of gardenias and pink roses. Men in the wedding party were wearing boutennieres. Acting as ushers during the evening were Ezra Harper and Master Fredric Davis. Assisting with gifts were close girl friends of the bride; Mrs. Wesley Hansen, Mrs, Myrl Wells, Mrs. Arlo Yates, assisted by Mrs. Lois Hubbard, Mrs. Eiva Roundy and Mrs. Leona Mills. At the serving table were Raone Rader, Ann Fredrickson and Caeryl Holmes, cousins of the bride. Glen Reeder, master of ceremonies introduced the following program, presented to the bride and groom; Vocal solos by Mary Jeppsen of Mantua who sang, You Were Meant For Alfred G. Carter sang "I Me, Love You Truly," and Always by Lynette Anderson of Brigham City. (Bill Rader and Clifton Stallings sang a duet entitled "Some Sunday Morning." A humorous reading was given by Miss Dauna Jensen and Lon Stallings sang, 'Because. Remarks to conclude the program were given by George T. Hansen. Neighbors from West Corinne pulled a few practical stunts on the bride and groom as a surprise number, after which they danced the bride and groom waltz to the tune of "Diane, played 6y the Thompson orchestra. The new bride graduates with the class of 49 from Box Elder high school and her husband is a graduate with the class of 47. The meeting was conducted by Bishop Rulon Hirschi with prelude by Louise Davis. The opening song, "Joseph Smiths First Prayer, was the opening song and invocation was , by Grant Young. Jesus Once of Humble Birth, was sung by the led by Harper congregation, Billings with Barbara Billings as accompanist. A talk was given by a seagull girl, Deanna Larsen, after which Mrs. Elzada Young gave a short talk and made the certificate presentation to the following girls, who have earned their award under the direction of their teacher, Mrs. Merle Andrews: Deanna Larsen, Janice Nelson, ReNae Nelsen, Roberta Knudson, Faye Thorne, Dorene Wagstaff, and Yabanige. The Aa rente priesthood then presented the following program: A quartet composed of Shirl Carter, Max Hirschi, Eugene Bott and Harper Billings sang a vocal number followed by a talk on Story of the Restoration of the Gospel, by Shirl Carter. A talk on missionary work was then given by Delbert Weaver and Lawrence Wright discussed Duties of the Ward Teacher. Shirl Carter and Max Hirschi then sang "The Priesthood of God. Why I appreciate the Priesthood That I Hold, was given by Bob Hope and Royal Petersen, general secretary, also gave a short talk on "How - My Faith Has Been The Strengthened Through Priesthood. Bishop Hirschi then gave a few remarks, followed by the closing song, Til Go Where You Want Me To Go, by, the, boys chorus. Benedic tion was by Phyllis Oyler. Accompanying the young couthe ple to the temple were Mrs. brides parents, Mr. and Lafe Jensen, the grooms parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Olsen, Bishop and Mrs. Glen Knudson, Loveday and Mrs. Vernetta Mrs. Martha Jensen. Following the wedding ceremony, a wedding dinner was held at the home of the brides parents in Brigham City. The table was beautifully decorated for, the occasion and was centered with a delectably decorated wedding cake topped with a miniature bride and groom. More than three hundred of the friends and relatives newlyweds attended a wedding reception and dance later that evening at the Fifth ward amusement hall. The bride was a picture in a white slipper satin gown with pearl beading at the neckline. Her illusion veil was held in place with a seeded pearl tier-rand she carried a bridal bouquet of gardenias and pink rosebuds. The maid of honor, Joyce Jensen, was gowned in a blue brocaded satin and carried a gardenia and pink carnation nosegay. Miss Veretta Jensen and Mrs. Vernetta Loveday were bridesmaids and dressed in pink and blue gowns with gardenia and pink and yellow carnation nosegays. David Miller stood with the groom as best man.
