State Law Banned The new marriage license law which has been in effect in Idaho for about a year, requiring couples who intend to marry to give notice of five or more days before the license is issued, has brought hundreds of couples to Utah to procure their marriage licenses during the past summer. The law seems to be unpopular to .the Gem state, as will be seen from the following report which appeared in The Salt Lake Tribune Thursday morning: Preston, Idaho. Can I get a license so I can get married tomorrow demanded a voice over the telephone of County Recorder John A. Kofoed. No, youll have to wait from five to thirty days he replied Then Ill go to Utah was the reply. Thats where our business goes since the gin marriage law was passed last year the recorder commented. President Hoover is honorary chairman of the organization and Secretary Wilbur is president. The headquarters! office is in Washington, D. C., with Dr. James Ford in charge as the executive director. The Better Homes campaign is designed to stimulate the improvement of housing conditions and bring about a more wholesome type of home and, family life. The programs carried put by local committees are deter- -' mined by the needs and conditions in the community. Features include lectures and discussions, exhibits, contests, and where possible the demonstration of one or more new or remodeled houses to show how the better types of homes can be provided for families of modest incomes at a cost within their reach. Care and repair programs as a means of relieving unemployment during winter are being emphasized again this year. These programs culminate in Better Homes Week which in 1932 will be from April 24th to May 1st.
