IKE THE KIDNAPPING HAVE FILED COMPLAINT. I in The Electric Company Wants Its Title Box Elder Creek Quieted. The Brigham City Electric company last Thuisday in its suit against Brigham city and a copy has been served upon the mayor. The complaint after setting forth the corporation of the plaintiff and defendant further declares: That plaintiff is now and for a long time hitherto has been the owner and claiming title in fee of the primary and paramount right to the use of all the waters of Box Elder creek flowing in Box Elder county, this state, for the purposes of generating electricity used and to be used for lighting and beneficial power and other useful and tiled its complaint purposes. That said defendant claims ao estate or interest in and to said waters and the right to the use thereof adverse to the said plaintiff, and that the claim of the said defendant is without any right whatever, and that it has not any estate, right, title or interest whatsoever in said water and right to the use thereof, or any part thereof, and that the said wiongful claim aud assertion of thesaid defendant casts a cloud upon the plaintiffs title and its right to the comfortable use and enjoyment of said water Wherefore the plaintiff prays that defendant may be requiied to set forth the nature of its claim, aud that all adverse claims of the defendant may be determined by a decree of this court; that by said decree it be declared and adjudged that defendant lias no estate whatsoever in or to said described wateis and the right to the use thereof, and that the title of the plaintiff thereto is good and valid, and for all other and further relief and costs of suit. The complaint is signed by L. It. T. 1). Johnson, J. D. Call and Hogc-sNels Jensen, attorneys for plaintiff, and is verified by John Y. Rich, president of the plaintiff company. , Citv Council- - at its regular sesnight passed ordinances' for erecting an electric light plant, and issuing bonds to pay therefor and also passed a resolution in favor of advertising for bids on the proposed The city council sion Tuesday bonds. Joseph Hancock asked that the city sell him four rods front of lands at gravel pit on Forrest St. Referred. On request of 0. W. Knudson of the board of health, a committee was draft an ordinance banishing pig pens from certain blocks in center of city. An effort will also be made to establish a city dumping ground. The City attorney was requested to write parties at Mantua who are flooding their meadoews with water belonging to this city that- they will be arrested if persisted in.. Improvements will be made at city jail in the matter of cleanliness. Mayor Boden and Councilman Christensen were appointed a committee to confer with county commissioners respecting the grasshoppers which are destroying vegetation in south part of city and vicinity. AFFAIR Dr. Taylor Says Young Anderson was Sandbagged and Drugged The kidnapping of Nels Anderson,-- ) Jr., an account of which was published in the News last week, with the more recent developments has been the principal topic of conversation during the week. The parents of the boy have lieon considerably distressed by the m iny expressions of doubt that their son had ben kidnapped as lie alleges and ist Thursday they called in Dr. Taylor to make an examination. The doctor e informs the News that ha found been evidence that the boy bad struck with a sandbag and rendered unconscious and lhat he had been gi en laudanum. He was quite sick tor several days but has now recovered. Further confirmation of the boys story is that Monday night last a boy of John II. Botts while after bis cows saw six men in a ravine in the hills east of this city. The boy was close enough to not be mistaken and sew them walking about. The officers with Mr. Bott and son went to the locality Tuesday morning but while they found tracks of two or more men, they could not find the men. Young Anderson says there were six men in the gang that held him up. It would at least be better and safer to accept the story of the Anderson boy as true and keep a sharp Liokout for suspicious characters, for if it is. true the men are desperate and will be heard from again. 1 pis-itiv- We are going to exchange ioo New Improved Singer Sew- ing Machines for a similar number of old machines at the Singer office.
