Scientists are having their attention called to the coincidence in the preva jence of so many forest fires in the Rocky Mountains and the scientific fact that a great number of meteors have been tearing up the earth in this quarter of the globe. It has been suggested that these meteors dropping in various mountain districts, in heavy pine forests, have exploded and thus started the big forest fires that are doing so much damage. This is a new theory in the scientific world, but it is not without the range of possibilities and seems the only explanation of the mysterious origin of these fires. These fires have originated apparently without human agency and there has not been any theory of lightning origin. Denver scientists are now a study of this theory and inmaking a few days will doubtless express their opinions. It certainly seems a satisfactory explanation of how fires originate in sections far from the roads of travel and the habitation of men. Word ha just been received in Denver of a fire that is raging near Grand Lake, Col., and which is threatening much property. This fire, it is supposed, originated from the bursting of a meteor on a hay ranch near Grand Lake. Another disastrous fire, with mysterious origin, is raging near Col. Denver Georgetown, (Cpl.) News. BEDS OF ALL NATIONS, C. E. Boies, Dealer in Grain and Feed; Address, 505 South Water Street, Akron, Ohio Cured in 1896. Mr. Boies says: Ever since the Civil War I have had attacks of kidney and bladder trouble, decidedly worse during the last two or three years. Although I consulted physicians, some of whom told me I was verging on Brights disease, and I was continually using standard remedies, the excruciating aching just across the kidneys, which radiated to the shoulder blades still existed.' As might be expected, when my kidneys were in a disturbed condition there was a distressing and inconvenient difficulty with the action of the kidney secretions. A box of Doans Kidney Pills, procured at Lamparter & Co.s drug a decided store, brought such change within a week that I continued the treatment The last attack, and it was particularly aggravated, disappeared." Cure Confirmed Four Years After. Four years later Mr. Boies says: In the spring of 1896 I made a public statement of my experience with Doans Kidney Pills. This remedy cured me of terrible aching in the kidneys, in the small of my back. In the muscles of the shoulder blades, and in the limbs, puring the years that have gone by I can conscientiously say there have been no recurrences of my old trouble. My confidence in Doans Kidney Pills is stronger than ever, not only, from my personal experience, but from the experience of PEST OF THE PHILIPPINES. many others in Akron, which have come to my notice." Considering that a third ot our whole lives is spent in bed, it Is not surprising that much care, trouble, and money should be spent on our sleeping places. In England the unhealthy feather Bed has been almost entirely succeeded by the more nyglenic mattress, which also is the rule in America. French beds are so short that the average foreigner often complains that it demands a special education to fold oneself up to the right size for them. Many Norwegian beds are made to pull out from recesses. In South and Central America the hammock reigns, and the Indians of Guiana plait the most beautiful hammocks of grass, which they dye charming colors. In Japan the bed consists of the matting-coverefloor with a curious wooden neckrest; a form of bolster that to a European would be a simple Instrument of torture.
