I! s' V 1 $2i No. 7 I ) U H0RSE8H0EING the board of health that there is danger of the spread of rabies among dogs it shall be the duty of said board of health to make an order and Immediately give public notice that all dogs must be muzzled or confined in such a way as to prevent their being able to bite any other animal or person, and thereupon, it shall be the duty of every owner or person having the custody of any dog to confine or provide the same with a substantial muzzle approved by the board of health, and to keep said dog confined or muzzled, without interruption, during the period covered by the order and notice of the board of health. Said notice may be given by publishing the same once in a newspaper published in Box Elder County, or by posting in three conspicuous public places in said County. Said notice shall contain the order of the board of health and shall require the muzzling or confining of all dogs within a period of not to exceed ten days from the date of publication or posting of such notice and to continue for sueh time as the board may in its discretion determine. SECTION 6. If, after the giving of the notice in Section 4 provided for, there shall be found within this county any unmuzzled dog running at large, it shall be the duty of the health officer or other respresentative of the board of health to kill the same forthwith. Disposition of the carcasses of the dogs so killed shall be made by the board of health and at the expense of the county. SECTION 7. Every person who shall violate any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be fined in any sum not exceeding $100 or by imprisonment in the county jail not exceeding 100 days, or by both such fine and imprisonment. SECTION 8. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby' repealed. SECTION 9. Tl)is ordinance shall take effect 15 days after date of publication or posting. Whenever the owner or any person having In custody or possesion any dog shall have reason to believe that such dog has rabies or has shown symptoms of rabies, such owner or person shall immediately notify the board of health or its health officer to make inspection or examination of such animal, and shall immediately confine such animal until such inspection or examination is made. SECTION 2. If it shall appear to the board of health or iis health officer upon such examination or Inspection that a dog has rabies, It shall be the duty of such officer to kill the same. SECTION 3. Whenever any person shall be bitten by a dog, the owner or person having the custody of such dog shall Immediately confine such dog and keep the same confined for a period of ten days, and shall notify the board of health or Its health officer thereof, and it shall be the duty of the board of health or its health officer to make examinations of such dog within the said period of ten days as may be required to determine whether the dog has rabies, and if it shall appear upon such examinations that such dog has rabies, the same shall be immediately killed. SECTION 4. Whenever any animal shall be bitten by a dog having rabies, the owner or person having or possession of the animal socustody bitten shall, upon being informed thereof, either kill such animal forthwith or quarantine it, and keep it tied up or confined for a period of ten days and the board of health or its health officer Shall have power in his discretion to kill or quarantine any animal so bitten in case the owner or person having custody or possession thereof Attest: shall fail to do so immediately, or :n ROYAL M.
