It is declared that the waters of the Great Salt Lake aie gradually subsiding and that the time will come when there will be no lake. During the last two rears the towering of the water has been overwhelming. Salt Lake bas been one of the greatest attractions In the west for years, and to take this away from the state would be like taking the Bock lea from Colorado. There ara thousands and thousands of visitors to Salt Lake every summer, many of whom go to seek health iu the waters of the lake. The lake covers 1,400 acres of land, an area equal to about ten good-sizfarms. The receeding water is claimed to be due to the fact that the farmers have Irrigated their hitherto unfertile fields with the waters of the lake, and besides this, the government put in large ditches, cutting off the supply. The desert now blossoms as the rose, while peach, plum and apple trees fill the orchards, and the fields of alfalfa furnish food for the stock but tt may be the loss of the lake.
