Show ane NEARLY A KILLED BY A BULL mr A J fife Is recovering from an experience which he had a week ago and which carried him to the very brink ot of the grave mr air fife purchased a big holstein Holat eln bull from V F davis of 0 perry and essayed to drive the animal from the davis corral to the stock yards which A mr fife and his associates have erected north ot of the short line depot in this city thor the big animal did not like the idea ol of leaving the home yard and stubbornly objected to being driven it evidently became infuriated by the repeated lashings it received in an effort to drive it away from the yard and it whirled suddenly and catching the horse upon which mr air fife was riding fair under the belly tossed horse and rider into the air mr fite fife alighted first with the horse on top of him and the animal tell fell in such a position as to break its neck killing it instantly mr fife was rendered unconscious and was pinned underneath the dead horse ephraim jeppson saw the encounter and rushed to mr fifes cifes assistance whom he dragged from beneath the horse to a place of safety and was greatly relie relieved when that gentleman finally opened his eyes dr smith was in ili the neighborhood and was summoned after giving the wounded man a thorough bonig over it was discovered that not a bone one had been broken but the skin was practically peeled off his entire face from the forehead to the chin and his body was terribly bruised fortunately the bull had had its horns borns sawed off or tile the result might have been more serious mr rife fife is able to be up tip and around but the sore places hale ae not entirely cleared up lip |
