Show DEATH OF Ps F MADSEN on wednesday evening at peter V P aladden passed into the other life alter after an illness which bilich confined him to liis ills bed for one week but ut from which he be had been suffering tor for many years he had bad hardly known a well day in all ills his life but his indomitable will would not give up to cal pain and he be kept active until age began to lend its pressure to compel compel him to relinquish lifes activities during the past few months ho be failed rapidly and a week ago was una ie e to arise aiom his bed during that week he suffered intensely until the last day and the end came peacefully lie he was conscious until the last though he was slow to ic ie cognize anyone or anything said to him all yesterday afternoon peter P madsen ladsen was born on oil the alia island of lol land laud denmark august 10 1843 the elders of the church of jesus christ of latter day saints visited his fathers while lie was yet a youth and the entire family accepted the gospel deceased being baptized on the ath day of november 1856 the following year the entire family of father mother three brothers and three sisters started tor for utah when they reached iowa they remained there for three years then came on to utah locating in brigham city which has hag teen been their home ever since the subject of this sketch wa was ordained an elder seventy and then a high priest in 1869 he was called on a mission to the states where he labored until the fol following loing year and shortly after his return from that mission he was called to go to scandinavia where he labored nearly three years being beina released june 24 1873 1 while on this mission on he presided over the copenhagen conference part of the time and labored in the mission office for a season after his bis home he be went the next year back to the states with extra cattle to assist a belated company of immigrants to get through ecclesiastically he held a number 0 t positions ile he was secretary of tile the first Y M at 1 1 I association of 0 brigham city was a counselor in the third ward bishopric john D burt bishop for many years was tithing cerk lor for years and was caged ca led into the high council august augu st 1 1888 and was a member of that quorum at his death I 1 ile he was a member of the list alist class in fil telegraphy which wa was appointed by gov brigham young and was the first operator on the old deseret telegraph in this city being the dispatcher who nho s nt the first message out from this city the message being a congratulatory gre ting from president young to president snow in this city and was lavid on to the fits in dear bear L alke lite when the test aoh ooh was a re d of vot 1 in thi u t iti in 1 as dece is d a die firs im to sn sal ibe to lo 0 tita mo alter he ti lo in UP bp it challenge 11 1 oia and aad li il d vot d tho the t wit wa fotr ic ropher 0 r tb tat stat and there v B ts is a general r th imi tor lor the polls n 0 title tie lie v a as a county commissioner se ise ectman as n it was called the grounds at the court house were laid out and he had much to do in supervising the work in early days he was member ot of the dramatic club that furnished amusement for the people tor for a number of years aciz was a great grea t ot of histrionic art deceased had bad an abiding interest 11 the welfare ot of brigham ighani Hr city and box elder county and though he was unable physically to do much in later years he be never lost that interest but was always heart and soul in harmony with every movement tor for the progress ot of the community deceased was married nov 10 ISM 1873 to emella Dalh gren and eleven children were horn born to them seven ot of whom are living ile he also leaves 10 grand children one son St sterling eHing Is now performing missionary labor in bergen norway funeral services will be held in the third ward chapel pel on saturday next at 2 p m |
