Show BEAUTIFUL UTAH AS DESCRIBED BY ORO DR BROADDUS those who attended the illustrated lecture given in the commercial club rooms last evening by dr J E broad dus due under the auspices ot of the brigham kiwanis club were ere unanimous in declaring it one of the most interesting instructive and inspiring evenings they had bad ever spent all left the club rooms with a determination to see BOO utah at the very first possible opportunity the lecture was brimming brimm lne over with wit and humor was replete with enthusiasm and the disclosures own scenery and scenic resources almost startling dr broaddus Is doing a wonderful work for utah and the intermountain intel mountain country the doctor launched at once upon the potential worth ot of ahe the great swamps west ot brigham on bear river day bay to this city and county he stated that bear river bay is the greatest potential public hunting grounds in the world and that with the completion ot of a proper roid road to these grounds making them accessible access able to the public would mean thousands ol of dollars to the city in tourist traffic he stated that recently while in chicago he called at all the big railroad offices and made inquiries about the things ot of interest to tourists in utah and in every case he e was told briefly ot of the great salt lake the mormon buildings and ogden canyon none ot of them seemed to know anything whatever of brycel canyon zion national park and all the rest ot of scenic utah among other things dr broaddus touched on the splendid work now being done by the railroads in exploiting wonderland a proposed scenic loop trip to include all the scenic features of the state from bear L akeia the ther North to zion park on the S south the tact fact that utah has 2506 2500 miles of mountain streams or one halt half mile ot of fishing for each man in the state the fact act that it if bear lake were properly stocked there would be fishing for every man woman and child in utah idaho and wyoming in that one lake the fact that we must save the wild flowers from thoughtless vandals who tear up the plants by the roots and that the wasatch mountain range is the greatest geological fault known to the world in conclusion he assured his auditors that it if the wonderful bird ground on bear river day bay were properly handled people would come from all over the country not only to hunt but to witness the and habits ot of the bird life there he contributed the expense money he was to have received from the kiwanis club tor for coming up tip to a fund to provide tor for the building ot of a road to that section T the he entire talk was an inspiration a and d we say to the kiwanis club repeat such splendid offerings |
