Show USUAL attendance the first quarterly qua terly conference for the year 1916 of the box elder stake was held in the tabernacle in this city on saturday and sunday last the visitors irom from salt lake were apostle joseph F smith jr and bishop orrin P miller of the presiding bishopric of 0 the church the stake presidency and all high councilmen were also in at as were the bishops of 0 all the wards of the stake their counselors and a very rood good representation of the lay membership I 1 the first meeting on saturday was for the priesthood only and was attended t e n d e d by b y 3 5 8 of that t li a t body b od y at the opening e r e n in g session s es si 0 n president pr e si d en t stohl S t ohl made some remarks in ill which he outliner outlined briefly the condition of the stake elder J francis terrell merrell spoke for a tew few minutes on oil the matter of 0 the sugar factory and urged the farmers to be loyal ui in the matter of supporting the institution and thus bringing to themselves the profits which the industry scatters elder abel G rich delivered a spirited address full of wise suggestion on the subject of temperate living and the benefits accruing he was followed by elder joseph P F smith jr whose theme was be ye clean and lie he read from the scriptures the word of the lord on tile the matter lie he emphasized the point that as we saw row so shall we reap in the afternoon the general public was invited to be present and souls attended the services were were characterized by addresses on oil temple work V ork by elder joseph A west and At at sacrament meetings by bv 0 C dalby after which bishop 0 P miller gave cave some interesting statistics ou on the tha work done in the temples of the church in 1914 and told of what is being done right Mutu mutual ats which included two songs from the first ward scouts a ladles ladies clorus from the second ward and a retold story by sister osborne ot of the second ward addresses were delivered by apostle joseph F r smith bishop milter miller and president oleen N stohl the subjects being clean cean living marriage and missionary work vork and some of the early church history the opening and closing songs were the hymns what was witnessed in the heavens and 10 lo the mighty god tha prayers were nere offered by elders F W V fishburn and homer holmgren at the sunday sunda morning session a
