Thousands families of will be returning vacations other from thousands will take advantage of the long weekend to crowd long trips into three days. It is a weekend that unscar on hundreds of families because of traffic deaths and injuries. Because of the special significance of this holiday to the labor force of the state the Utah Safety council is extending a particular appeal to organized labor to play a leading part in safety promotion over this period. The council suggests numerous ways that labor organizations and individual members can contribute to a safe and happy holiday. Among the ideas are the following: Each member and his family pledge themselves to drive, walk, and play according to .well-know- rules n and practices of safety. Use of special safety promotion kits that have been distributed to the local unions. Give 5 minute safety talks at plant meetings, or show an appropriate safety film. Produce a cartoon aimed at Labor Day safety in the plant publication. Have a special safety float In the local Labor Day parade. Place a safety exhibit in the union hall.
