City council members Thursday night said their patience had run thin and declared they wanted an effective repair program started on the street soon. The state highway department has repair responsibilities since Main street is a state highway. Mayor Willis Hansen was delegated to contact Ernest Balch, chairman of the Utah Road commission, and put the matter to him. The action was stirred after O. Nell Smith, public works director, said he felt the only effective approach would be to tear up and replace the present surface. However, he said, state road representatives had Indicated they would only gravel the street and not Box Elder county Is not quite until late fall or next spring.
