TV wrestling is a farce from airplane spin with a nostril lock to the inverted scissors hold with a spinal column pinch; Yet thousands, yes hundreds of thousands of people take those bellicose old baldies for athletes and urge them on with big shouts from their living room sofa, actually believing, I believe, that they are viewing a real battle of blood. There are mighty grunts and mightier groans from the contestants and occasionally from the referee. The only skill the oafs exhibit is in pulling punches, slamming their opponents to the mat with gorilla-lik- e strength, yet so carefully not a chest hair is disturbed. Hung Over My Head Telephone operators will love this. Gladys, dear Gladys, our advertising manager returned from her vacation recenty with a present all for me. Shes hung it above my desk. Its an inscription that reads Why be disagreeable, When with a little effort, You can be a real Stinker. Good Criticisms Speaking of telephone operators. Two from Brigham City did a masterly job in writing criticisms very constructive about this column. Thanks gals. Like Paper Hanger The News and Journal was operating without its right arm last week. Ralph Channell, linotype operator who sets all of the news stories in type, was away on vacation. Howard (Andy) Anderson who is a printer by trade, not an operator, substituted for him. All week long we were in a gigantic race to catch up. We never did. It must have been a great vacation for Ralph and Mrs. Channell fpr when he wag in Kansas City, his son, Reed with his wife, drove up at the home where they, were visiting. Reed just returned from a lengthy stretch of duty in Germany with .Uncle Sams army. One-Arme- I could, I believe, do a better job of acting Shakespeares Othello, than those alleged fighters do their parts. They dont even do a good job of following their scripts and occassionally the announcer will be reading his part and the . d half wrestlers will be ad libing with nelsons. And TV viewers actually go for that stuff. Id switch that wrestling off soon as it came on- if I had a TV set to switch off., Apparently there are a number of people who enjoy being duped. To us its a constant source of amazement that intelligent, normal people allow themselves to be carried away by TV wrestling to actually believe that the exhibitions are contests. How could those rather bad theatrical productions actually be anything more than clumsy tumbling acts? The alleged fighters are virtually old enough to be my grandfather, pot bellied as old railroad stoves and trained more in the art of staying on a bar tail-en- - d i , Kindergarten Board Met Monday Evening Rothe Family Reunion Held At Reeder Home held last Thursday at the home and family, American Fork; Mr. The worlds highest mountains of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph R.
