All you have to goldfish is nothing. Actually, practically nothing, but a great deal nearer nothing than youve ever imagined possible. Its Plaque Awarded City For No Traffic Accidents In Year Brigham City, for the second consecutive year was awarded a plaque, last Friday afternoon at the state capitol building in Salt Lake City, for completing the year without a' single traffic fatality. Receiving the plaque from Heber Bennion, Jr., secretary of state, in lieu of Governor - Lee's absence, were Mayor Lorenzo Bott, Chief of Police Harry Smith, representing 'the city; Shirley Wight, representing the Box Elder Chamber of Commerce ; Dr. J. , club 0 Gordon Felt, representing the and Wayne Johnson, representing the Jun- ior Chamber of Commerce. Only one other city in Utah in the 5,000 to 10,000 population classificatiin, received the coveted reward for a perfect record dur-,in- g 20-3- the year. As Police Chief Smith said, the deathless record is the result of the cooperation of several Brigham City civic organizations with the police department, and their concentrated efforts in their safety campaigns. ' Particularly to be complimented, said Chief Smith, are the Brigham City American 0 club, the Legion and Auxiliary, the Junior Chamber of Commerce, and the Chamber of Commerce. Not to be forgotten is the police department. They have very efficiently patrolled the city streets, nailing the traffic violators, and thereby spreading the word among careless drivers that they had better obey traffic regulations in Brigham City or else. , The police department has been active in the n educational program in : thfe schools and city. , Though some drivers are careful because the hand of the law hangs over their head, the great majority are considerate and conscientious motor vehicle operators, without being prompted.? We only gave ours half as much as you were supposed to. But finally Kay convinced us it DID mean d fish us, too. These two hardy, we have now are proof that Kay is right. We decided to feed them every press day thats Wednesdays and Fridays. However, if we forget on press day, theres no such thing as making up. If we dont feed the fish on a Friday, they have to go until the next Wednesday. If we happen to forget on Wednesday, then it goes to Friday again. No feeding on Thursday, or Sunday or long-live- As for changing the water, its a cinch. When the water gets so clouded and murky we cant see into it, we wonder if the fish still are in there. Several days later we notice it again, and it starts worrying us. Another week or so, and were so worried over whether or not there are fish in that water we dump it out. Sure enough, there are the fish, fine, fat and lively, so we refill the bowl with clean water. Every now and then someone remembers the fish and tosses a small apiece of lettuce into their bowl. Thats what Kay said to do. " Mdybe Thats 'thd secret of the whole thing. We never fed our goldfish lettuce before. Just plain lettuce. Dont bother with French dressing or mayonnaise! Whatever it is, its working. Weve had these goldfish longer than we ever had gold- - States.
