His enthusiasm, I think swayed the class, myself included. : Take Over Helm Of Kindergarten Club was dedicated last Sunday, published in their program for the event. It is a statement that gives an idea of the effort that has gone into the buiding. The new chapel- was to originally cost $96,000, but caught in the inflation of the times the final cost of the building and fixtures was $185,148.12 a lot of money for a small ward to raise. It must be with satisfaction the ward members, and all who contributed and worked on the chapel, look back at their tremendous effort. The new chapel is one of the most beautiful in the county, or even in the state, and i3 certainy an edifice to be proud of. An item not to be overlooked is that donated .labor on the building amounted to $15,192.39 at The Old Reliance saloon was the most popular by far. It always did business. Two things stand out in my mind about The Old Reliance. On its bar there was always an open pack of cigarettes and anyone could help themselves. The other was the school Christmas party held there one year. It was a box lunch affair. The lunches were auctioned off and the proceeds went to buy h$ six school kids of . Tenabo, Christmas 'presents. The take was so terrific all the kids got presents worth at least $20 each. . Retraction Of Erroneous Statement The Box Elder News has often taken the stand that innocent individuals and organizations are too often ruthlessly, or carelessly branded Communist dominated, Communist or with Communist leanings, and has admonished against it. ' Now we find ourselves guilty of infracting that very rule. In the heat of the political campaign last November, we published a statement, prepared and handed us by the Farm Bureau, on the stand of that organization in politics. The statement said in part: Representative has exhibited his evident ani mosity toward farm organizations (except the Communist dominated Fanners Union.) The Farmers Union is not Communist dominated in any way whatsoever. It never has teen and there is absolutely no grounds for such an allegation. These facts were proved in a recent court action in which the Farmers Unon sued the Farm Bureau for that statement and won its case. ' Any injuries the Farmers Union sustained from that statement is fully retracted. It is our desire to encourage and assist all deserving organizations functioning within the constitution of the United States. Ah yes, the good old days. AH the gold was finally mined out and today, I understand, Tenabo is just a scar on the hillside with a saloon. But for sentimental reasons were going to stop there and look around. Well go up to the ojd diggins where I helped Dad dig gold in ' our own private placer mine; well look the hills over where I got pretty good shooting rabbits ; and, by gosh, well stop in at The Old Reliance For about two weeks now I have been trying to say something important in this Column, but could never make the keys chatter right. Now, awkward or not,. Ill have to say it, because after the vacation it will be too late. The first time I ever met Bill Long was when I was a sophomore at the USAC.
