Show -- Oh Forsgren Brothers Observe Birthdays Wins Coveted Gleaner Award Jean W. Madsen The past few days have been full of excitement for Terry and Sid Forsgren, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Fred L. Foregren. Both observed their birthday anniversaries. Terry celebrated his eighth on Janbirthday anniversary uary 22 at 3 p. m. at the family Receives Golden Gleaner Award The awarding of the Golden Gleaner pin and certificate to Mrs. Jean W. Madsen was conducted Sunday evening. January 23, in the Second LDS ward. The presentation was made by Mrs. Fred L. Forsgren, South Box Elder stake Gleaner leader, in regular sacrament meeting. The award was made following six years work filling requirements for the' high Gleaner honor. Mrs. Madsen is the wife of Dale Madsen and the mother of two daughters. Most of the requirements have ibeen filled In music and She is a talenthomemaking. ed vocalist and also teaches voice. She is now serving as choir director in the Second ward. Birth of Daughter Announced from Calif. News comes from Oakland, California, teling of the birth of a baby daughterto Mr. and Mrs. Burton R. Pett. The six pound ten ounce Miss arrived January 24 and as yet a name has not been decided upon. Mrs. Pett is the former Carol Ann Roundy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Roundy of who are grandparents for the first time. Paternal grandparents, also for the first time, are Mr. and Mrs. G. B. Pett, Brigham City. include Mr. and Mrs. R. Leo Jensen, Brigham City and L. F. Roundy, Tremonton. Mrs. E. R. Roundy left Tues day for Oakland, where she will visit for a few weeks with the Pett family. e, , Captain Sederholm to Be Sego Lily Hostess Captain Vera Sederholm Is to be hostess to members of the Sego Lily Daughters of Utah Pioneers at her home, 76 South Third West, Thursday, January 27, at 7:30 p. m. Captain Sederholm urges all members to attend. 3 Nadene Olsen, she was a Brownie leader for a year. With service as the watchword of the growing scout organization, Mrs. Alston has instilled the spirit of scouting in many young ' girls of the community. Her three daughters, Mary Alice, Ann and Susan, have been active in Girl Scouting with her. The Girl Scout program provides an opportunity for every girl to become, a better homemaker, mother and citizen in the world of tomorrow. In Civic Affairs She has also been active in many civic affairs. Mrs. Alston is past president of American Association of University Women and is currently serving as fellowship chairman for the Utah State AAUW. As a member of Civic Improvement club since 1948 she has been active on numerous committees. As project chairman this year she and her committee were instrumental in establishing a board for Box Elder Nursing Home. She was elected to serve as a member of the board. Mrs. Alston has also been a member of Business and Professional Women of Brigham City; Womens Legislative Council of Box Elder county and has Mrs. N. E. Larsen Is Civc Guest Speaker as program chairman this year for the Central School served PTA. member of the Catholic church, Mrs. Alston has been very active. For the past two years she has served as presi dent of the Ladies Alter Society and has promoted a great many activities in the church, Father Whelan said today. First Ward Primary Has Training Lesson Members of ithe First ward Primary met for Tegular monthly in service training lesson Monday evening, January 24, at the iFirst ward chapel. Mrs. Phyllis Owen was in charge of the meeting with Mrs. Norma Sackett, Mrs. Virginia Ludlow. Mrs. Geraldine Simiper and Mrs. Leone Cazier as hostesses. . Invocation was offered by Mrs. Afton Rees. The past years scripture readings were reviewed by Mrs. Grace Burt. A question and answer period reviewed the Book of Mormon readings. Mrs. Ethel Poulter was introduced as a new teacher for the Bluebirds. Mrs. Luda Keller has been released from her teaching responsibility. Two excellent lessons, A Little Bit of Leaven and Oppor tunity, were presented by Miss Norma Jensen. Have I Done Any Good was the closing song. During the business session the pefiny drive and the coming conference were discussed. Mrs. Jean Packer offered the benediction. Delicious refreshments were served. Mrs. N. E. Larsen, Ogden, is to be guest speaker at regular meeting of the Civic Improve ment club, Thursday afternoon at 4 p. m. at the War Memorial home.
