Summer vacation it School it out almoit a whole week hat gone by. Im't it nice to have the klda home to help out around the houte and on the (arm? If your vacation from achool it anything like it waa when I wat younger it might go aomething like thit: here! Firat Week Heme Kid Hurray! The latt day of achool! I get to do anything I want all Bummer and I even get to aleep In! Mom Hurray! The last day of achool! I finally get to do what I want to do. The kida can help around the house and I can even aleep in! Kid Mom, I have to get up early in the morning, I have ball practice at , piano lessons at 9 and at 1 the gang wants me to go swimming with them, o.k.? Oh well, so much for Mom aleeping in! . After a Month Ill be so glad when school starts. You kids are driving me crazy. Running here and there. My house never stays clean. Oh, if I could only sleep in! Kid Oh, Ill be so glad to get back to school. Mom is so crabby she is driving me crazy. All she does is bug us to do this and get that done. Theres just nothing to do around here. Maybe Ill sleep in. Mom First Day of School Kid Hurray the first day of school! I'm so glad to get back here and have something to do! the Mom "Ahhhhh, peace and quiet of school days. It's nice to have the kids home for summer vacation, but Im sure glad when school starts again. I might even have a chance to sleep in! Well, summer vacation is here, but it may not go quite like that for you. In any case Im sure that you are all busy. Here are some of the things that others are doing during this summer! Jan Weidman finished her first year of college at Weber State. She has taken a job in Ogden as a secretary at an insurance agency. So far, she hasnt plans to go back to school. Joleen Sorenson, also a student at Weber State, plans on attending summer school. She ' is taking courses in nurses training. Maryann Braegger is also home from college, but, she has no deflnate plans for summer. class in M.I.A. The held a car wash last Saturday on the church house lot. They had a good turn out. The had it planned for the Saturday before Mia-Mai- and they got rained out. They , did it to raise funds for their activities for the coming year. New Baby Congratulations to Hal and Claudia Jeffs. They have a new baby boy that was born on May IS. They have picked the name Michael Dean for their new. little one. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Huggins and Mr. and Mrs. Brooks Shuman went to Sterling, Idaho on May 23. On the way home they attended a viewing of Mrs. Tressie Steed in Tremonton. Dollie Iverson and Silvia Hun-sakfrom Honeyville also attended this viewing. Mrs. Steed was on the county D.U.P. board with these ladies. Last Tuesday, Susan Jenson was driving home from work on the Pack Hatch road and a Bunderson boy turned his bike into her car. The boy was taken to the McKay-De- e hospital. On last report he was improving and doing fine. Sam and Tony Millhone of Douglas, Wyo. came to our town to visit with Tony parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mack Christensen. The Millhones went through the Salt Lake Temple and were sealed there. Sam is returning home on May 31 and Tony will continue her visit until June 12. Awful Storm? Wasnt that an awful storm we had the other night? Just when all the crops were coming good. The sugar beets were even starting to show! The hail was so big, and it came down so hard that it beat everything into the ground. After planting 5,000 tomatoe plants by hand and having them ruined in five or 10 I know first hand minutes what it is to have your crops ruined. Of course mine isnt on as large as a scale as most people.I guess were lucky that there is still some of our crops growing. I hope that the weather will permit us to replant and harvest in the time permitted. John Holmgren traveled to Pasco, Wash, for a short business trip. He drove up Thursday morning and returned that Friday night. He said it was qilit a long drive for such a little bit of business. We wish to send get well wishes to Kimmy Nessler. She had surgery at the McKay-De- e hospital. She is doing fine and is returning on Wednesday. ' Jack and Louise Mateson : from Ely, Nev. came to visit with some people in our town last Sunday. While Jack was in Priesthood meeting, Louise was visiting with Mr. and Mrs. L.W. Iverson and with Mrs. La Von Dallin. They are staying with Louises parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clair Ruddell in Brigham City. While she is here she will stay with Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Hawks and Mr. and Mr. and Mrs. Pete Misrasi. Mr. and Mrs. L.W. Iverson' e in honor of held a Mrs. Denison on Sunday night. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Pete Misrasi with children Tyler and Cindy and Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Hawks. Elva and John Hardy traveld to Montana to pick up their son Kevin. He has completed his mission there. Audrene Braegger from Willard visited with her mother Mary S. Anderson last Tuesday afternoon. Carlene Brown of Great Falls, Mont, spent the weekend with the Carroll Halls. She drove home in style in a new Thunder-birbar-becu- d. Carrie A. Christensen took a bus tour of the canyon Lands with a group of Ogden people. They drove one day to Lake Powell where they spent the whole day on a boat. She said that she didnt know anyone there but she had a real great time anyway. To Funeral Ida Christensen accompanied Clair Braegger and daughter Sheryl and Mary Beecher from Ogden and Irene Checkettes and Vernice Braegger of Willard to a funeral of an aunt, Mrs. Louise Gilgen, in Malad, Idaho last Tuesday. Sheryl is a niece of Idas and the rest are brothers and sisters of hers. Mr. and Mrs. Carter Iverson and children went to Gooding, Idaho to attend a high school graduation of a nephew. Rex, their son, will spend the summer in Naf, Idaho with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Ospital. Mary Iverson of Ogden stopped at Mr. and Mrs. Carter Iversons on the way to Naf, Idaho Tuesday night. She has had a few sick spells and so she will be staying with them until she feels well again. She is Chester's mother. Last week Joyce Cusick and daughter Janalee where in an accident. From the sounds of things, I understand that they had a great time. Sharon got this party over just in time to have her daughterss next week. They were born three years and seven days apart. Dee Jay and Sharon Thompson went to Ogden last week to help their niece and nephew move into a new home. They only had one day to get them moved, so they cleaned two rooms and the pantry so that they could move their things in, then they will go help them finish the rest later. There was a sunrise service in honor of the people buried at the Bear River cemetery last Monday, Memorial day. The program consisted of Chester Christensen giving the opening prayer. Then a reading was given by Kathy Hall. A song was then sung by Karma Shakespear, Sharon Thompson, Mary Ellen Green, Merrilyn Nelson, Bette Dallin and Kathy Hall. The song was My Own America. There was then a flag ceremony by the cub scouts. Then Clair Anderson gave the bugle call. It was a very nice program. Thank you to all who participated. There will be a boy scout paper drive on June the 5. They have asked that we have the papers ready for them on our front porches. dinner party for their little granddaughter Christina Steed who was four years old. Guests Couple views wedding by Flo Munson Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Peterson have been spending the past several days in Ephraim as houseguest of Mr. and Mrs. John Daniels and family. Friday morning they attended a wedding ceremony in the Manti Temple where John Daniels Jr. claimed Cindy. Snow as his bride. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Daniels and the bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Snow. A dinner party followed for family members at the John Daniels home in Ephraim. That evening a reception for the newlyweds was held in the Ephraim West cultural halL Also attending the reception were Mr. and Mrs. Charles H. Bourne and family of West Fielding, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Christensen and family of Granger, Mr. and Mrs. F. Allen Baker and family of Layton and Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Peterson and family of Clinton. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Estep during the weekend were Mrs. Lucetta Turner, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Renfro and family of American Falls, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Smith and family of Granger and George Turner of Salt Lake City. Thursday evening Mrs. Sonja Woodruff and daughter Kelly of Bountiful and Dr. and Mrs. Blaine Pierson of Williams AFB, Ariz., joined Mr. and Mrs. Earl Pierson and attended-graduatio- exercises at Bear River High school where Russell Pierson was one of the graduates. Dr. Pierson and his wife remained overnight at the Earl Pierson home. Visiting Mrs. Ethel Rudd Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. William Duke of Salt Lake City and Mr. and Mrs. Edward R. Pingle and sons Richard and William of Woods Cross. Weekend Guest Weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Lamb were Mr. and Mrs. Bart Williams and family of Salt Lake City. Other Sunday dinner guests were Mr. and Mrs. Farrel Williams of Malad. Mr. and Mrs. John Marshall of OgdeA visited during the weekend with Mrs. Maxiene Marshall. Wednesday evening Mr. and Mrs. Earl Pierson attended graduation exercises in the Bountiful High school their granddaughter where Jeri Lee Woodruff, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Woodruff was one of the graduates. Mr. and Mrs. Pierson were overnight guests at the Woodruff home. Overnight guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Pierson Saturday were Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Evans of Ketchum, Idaho. They also visited Mr. and Mrs. Orvin Pierson and family in Fielding. Wednesday evening Mrs. Arnold Lamb accompanied by her mother Mrs. Farrel Williams of Malad attended graduation exercises in the Mount Jordan Junior High school in Salt Lake City where Mrs. Lambs niece Kristy Williams was one of the graduates. Mrs. Lamb and Mrs. included Mr. and Mrs. Farrell Steed and family of Tremonton, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Bell and family of Plymouth. Williams were overnight guests at the Bart Williams home. On Vacation Monday Mr. and Mrs. Earl Pierson accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Gary Woodruff and family of Bountiful left for a week vacation in San Diego and other points of interest. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Taylor and family of Brigham City visited Mr. and Mrs. Hal Mason and family Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Whiting accompanied by their daughter Mrs. Judy Sandall of Tremonton attended funeral services in the Roosevelt ward chapel Wednesday for Mr. Whitings niece's small son Brandon Clayborn. son of Mr. and Mrs. Randy Clayborn. Brandon was only 18 months old and drowned in a irrigation ditch. Or-v- il Spending Sunday visiting daughter-ison and his was Nish n-law Mr. and Mrs. DeVerl Nish of Idaho Falls. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Steed and Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Steed , attended funeral services in Tuesday for Jay Lee Wolverton, 27. Jay Lee is sur- Ogden vived by a wife and two small is the son of Leonard and Ilene Steed Wolverton, former Plymouth residents. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. R.L. Manson Sunday were Mrs. Clifford Mason, Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Mason and family of Sunset. Sunday visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Whiting were Mr. and Mrs. Ira Archibald of Willard, Mrs. Judy Sandall and family of Tremonton, Mr. and children. Friday Mrs. Jane Udy accompanied by Mrs. Lenore Silvester of Riverside enjoyed a dinner party with Mrs. Eva Zundel in Ogden. Saturday Mr. and Mrs. Gardner Udy visited Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hess in Hyde Park. . Enjoying dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Newel Nish on Memorial day were Mr. and Mrs. Don Nish and family of Bountiful, Bishop and Mrs. Udell Godfrey and family of Clarkston, Mrs. Joseph Stokes and daughter Jana Ruth of Plymouth. Deepest sympathy is extended to the family of Mrs. Maxiene Marshall who died suddenly at the Tremonton hospital Monday. |
