Each candidate should have a sponsor. It is desireable that the Godparents at baptism, if present, also be the sponsor at confirmation. However, the choice of a special sponsor for Confirmation is allowed, even the parents themselves can be sponsors. Sponsors should be at least 14 years old and should have previously been confirmed. Sponsors should be the same sex as the candidate although sponsors of the opposite sex are allowed. If you are an adult and wish to be confirmed please call the Sisters or the Pastor. Baptism certificates are needed for adults or new parishioners who not received have any sacraments at St. Henry's. Lenten devotions, beginning Ash Wednesday will be as follows: Daily Masses, Monday through Friday 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. Stations of the Cross & Benediction, Friday at 7 p.m. Mass Saturday 5:30 o.m. Lenten Regulations: The obligation of Fast & Abstain from meat still binds on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. The other Fridays of Lent are also days of abstinence. No Catholic will lightly excuse himself from these practices. The Law of Abstinence requires everyone over 14 years t of age to abstain from meat; the Law of Fast obliges all those who have ' reached their 21st birthday and have not reached their 60th birthday. The fast allows one full meal a day and two other meals which together are not greater than a full meal. The season of Lent is the period of forty days preceding Easter, not counting the Sundays. Mrs. Annie Paskett Barlow died Monday at Pioneer Nursing home in Brigham, at the age of 93. Attending the funeral were her daughters, LaVern Frye, Adella Bingham and Louise Ballingham and a son, Roy Barlow. Because of illness J. Lester Barlow, another son, was unable to attend. One sister, Mrs. Rose Roberts, was also here and another sister, Mrs. Christine Richins was unable to attend. A large crowd of friends and relatives came to pay tribute to Aunt Annie. Our sympathy is extended to all of the family. Merlin Tanner was in Brigham and Salt Lake Friday and Saturday. He attended the Utah Stars ball game Friday evening and then the Utah Cooperative association meetings on Saturday. Ray and Wilda Kimber were in Brigham and Ogden Thursday and Friday on business. Wilda went back for a medical checkup and they also visited relatives. They came home by way of Malta, Idaho and brought Betty Jean Kimber home with them. Primary preparation meeting was held at the home of Mrs. Betty Kimber on Thursday evening. The lesson was are means by which the Gospel is made known in this modern medium in much the same way as Jesus spoke in parables to illustrate the Gospel message. Because their phone service goes off with the power, the folks here were unable to contact the Smiths, so they met together at Archie Toyns. Delma and Verl Smith and daughter, Becky, of Ogden were weekend guests of her parents, Winfred and Olive Kimber. They came to attend funeral services for Aunt Annie Barlow. Delroy Kimber called out from Brigham last Saturday with good news. His wife, Linda has given birth to a baby boy. This makes four boys for the couple and two girls. I talked to the grandmother, Mae Kimber, in Burley on Saturday and she said everyone was just fine. Mae was there from Brigham and Verl visiting Aina Rasmussen and their family. Delroy and three of his children came out this weekend to do some work on his farm here. Also announcing the birth of a baby boy this week is Ilene (Ballingham) and Douglas Johnston of Oregon.
