The d Winless Wasps sting Eagles Intermountain cagers continued to wander in the winless wilderness of Region Nine basketball this week after a loss at the hands of Wasatch Friday night, 47 to 35. However the Eagles are still looking for a bright horizon this season, and will take on Grantsville at 8 p.m. Friday night on the Cowboys court. It was the second time the Wasps beat Intermountain during the season. Slow Down The low score indicated that Coach Gary Rohmers squad continued with its new strategy, in slowing the game down. In fact the boards showed at the end of the first quarter. The Wasps managed to get 15 points by the half with Intermountain trailing with nine. The gamess pace stayed about the same throughout the third quarter with a 30 to 11 score at the end of that session. Game High Eagle Lynn Begay had the game high of 14 points, thats almost half of Intermountains total scoring. Here is the boxscore: Wotafch 47, infer mcumto'ft 35 2 15 30 3 9 11 Wosoeh 4? Box Elder Coach Ron Wolff said this week, We have one purpose, to qualify as many of our kids as possible as high as possible. We wont worry about team points since the team championship is already ours. Weber and Sky View will be gunning to shoot us down for the team laurels but we have nothing to prove or gain. Were attempting to qualify the best we can to make a good showing at the state tournament. "The first round will be of great importance to us. A win for Ken Jensen (114), Dan Nelsen (121) and Ben Ferry (138) will be a big step in qualifying them for state. Because of the seeding, the rest of our kids should be in good shape the first round if they wrestle to their potential. The tournament should prove to be quite exciting, especially the second round Friday night and the finals. Five Seeded First Five Bees are seeded first for the region meet.
