All the girls from the sixth grade met at Lynn Holmgrens Hardware Ranch by Flo The Civic , Munon Tremonton Womens League met with Mrs. as hostess Boyd Parker Thursday afternoon. A short business meeting conducted by president Mrs. George Napoli preceeded the program. Mrs. Jack Shumway gave a report of the Womens State Legislative Council in Salt Lake City, Mrs. Merrill Laub reported on the planning and development board meeting. A lesson on Nutrition and You was capably give by Mrs. Larry Ficklin. Denise Potter, Karen Holdaway and Valerie Vance favored with a vocal trio accompanied by Laurin Ashby at the bass guitar and Lynda Poulsen at the piano. Tasty light refreshments were served. . . , ; : ; : : ; J Senior Trip ; Forty-on- : Bear members of the River valley senior e citizens enjoyed a trip to the Hardware ranch Wednesday under the supervision of projects director LaRene Napoli and her assistant Bonnie Sue Grover. Sleighs carried the group to see approximately 250 elk. They also enjoyed the new Visitors center. Clifford John of Mrs. Tremonton visited her mother Mrs. Charlet Gibby in Mendon during the week. In Hospital Undergoing major surgery at the Valley View hospital in Granger Thursday was Mrs. Grace John of Portage. Mrs. George Ficklin was hostess to the VFG club of Tremonton Tuesday evening. A delicious hot luncheon was enjoyed followed by various kinds of handwork and a social. Friends of Mrs. J.C. Gibbs of Portage were sorry to hear of her falling on ice and injuring her hip. Craig and Shauna Waldron Morris of Ogden are happy over the arrival of a baby girl born Jan. 15. The Garland Bridge club met at Stephens Cafe Thursday afternoon with Dessie Campbell as hostess. A delicious hot luncheon was enjoyed. Prizes in bridge went to Florence Garn, Hattie Hodge and Lena Hall. The Stage Coach camp of DUP met with Zina Marriott as Summers of Tremonton. Mrs. Dennis Miller and Mrs. Bob Doutre and children Scott and Wendy of Tremonton visited Mrs. Millers mother Mrs. Leona Standing in Ogden Thursday. They enjoyed a luncheon together. They also visited Mrs. Theda Standing and France Standing. Enjoying a dinner party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Scott Hubbard and family in Ogden Thursday were Mr. and Mrs. Ace Godfrey of Fielding. The occasion was Shane Hubbard's first birthday anniversary. Visiting Ruby Yoder in Garland Thursday were her and daughter Mr. and Mrs. Tom Magee and children of Clearfield. The truck hit a soft spot. This slid the truck on the icy road. As the truck slid the dozer caught and tipped the truck over. The occupants were lucky as the only semi-truck- jack-knife- semi-truck- jack-knife- salt truck to go by that day was behind them. They took them to a telephone to get help. There were no injuries. An other car slid on the slick and snow packed roads Sunday. They had to be pulled out of the burrow pit. Roads Blocked The roads were semi blocked after Fridays snow and wind. There are some nice high snow banks where the snow plow has cleared the roads. The electricity was out most of Friday and that night due to the storm. If have not experienced the lack of power to heat your home or get a drink of water try it. You wont like it. Most of us were without heat or water during that time. Grant Callister of Tremonton has been attending manager meetings for the Western States Telephone and Telegraph company in Phoenix for several days. Mrs. Callister spent the time he was away with her and daughter, Dr. and Mrs. Lyle Archibald and family, in Salt Lake City. President and Mrs. Deloris Stokes, Mr. and Mrs Boyd Marble of Bothwell were atthosewho among tended a dinner at the stake center in Tremonton Friday evening for members of the High Council and their partners. President and Mrs. George Ficklin showed slides and told of their recent visit in Egypt. Returning to their home in Bothwell after an enjoyable vacation in Los Angeles are Mr. and Mrs. Edward M. Stark. They visited their and daughter Mr. and Mrs. Glen Baugh and family. of Miss Susan .Davis Paradise, Calif, arrived by plane to spend a week visiting her grandfather Alma Theurer and Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Baer in Tremonton. She also plans to visit relatives in Ogden and Preston. Car Repaired Christy Nelson is driving her car again. During the heavy snow fall a few weeks ago she had it parked close to the Brigham Apparel building in Brigham. An avalanche of snow slif off the roof onto her car and did considerable damage. LaVon Dallin accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Lee C. Johnsen to the USU program at the Box Elder High school Wednesday evening. Mrs. Ella Anderson who has been at the McKay hospital for 10 days underwent surgery Friday and had a pace maker inserted. Mrs. Anderson is 88 years of age. She is doing as well as can be expected. The Kenneth Pasketts visited Mrs. Anderson Saturday then drove up to Henefer to visit Kens mother, Mrs. Marguerite Paskett. The small daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Loren Nickolas spent Tuesday with her grandmother Wilda Nickolas. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Anderson of Woods Cross spent Tuesday visiting his sister Mrs. Carrie H. Christensen. Peggy Porritt held two quilting bees last week. One on Friday, another one on Monday. Darrel Nelson, Nola Nessler, Carrie J. Christensen Dollie Iverson, and Senneth Hawkes were the ladies helping her. A family get together was held at the Richard Nessler home Monday evening in honor Richards birthday of an- niversary. The unique feature of this party was that the guest of honor was not present. He was on call so had to leave to fix a tire for a farmer in West Corinne. Margie Doughten of Ogden was visiting relatives here Saturday. Elvira Christensen who has been staying with her daughters LaRue Tolman of Roy and Zella Harris of Ogden since she left the McKay hospital came home to Bear River Saturday. Ludleen Anderson is home with her family. Arrives Home Wayne Nicholas arrived home Wednesday. We are sure glad they are all on the mend and are able to get around again. Myrtle Anderson became ill Tuesday nite and was taken to the Cooley hosptial. She remained there until Saturday. She spent Saturday and Sunday but went back on Monday for more treatment and tests. Lucas has been negotiating contracts for in the San Francisco area since Jan. 2. He finished his assignment and returned home Thursday. However he was able to spend weekends at home during this period. Jan. 14 Lee Rock suffered a heart attack at his home. The quick thinking of his wife, Erma, probably saved his life. Bertha Wankier was there at the time and between them they raised him to an upright position, worked his arms up and down and then Erma administered mouth to mouth resuscitation. His son DeVere Rock of Torrance Calif, flew in Sunday and today they are taking him to St. Benedicts for further treatment. Roy Thorsen has been ill for several weeks. He was in Salt Lake one day last week taking tests. He isnt feeling too much better as yet. Thiokol Attend Conference Mr. and Mrs. John P. Holmgren II were in Salt Lake Thursday and Friday attending a commissioners conference. Saturday the Gordon Biglers of Mantua took Florence Gardner up to their home where she spent the day. That evening took her to the they Globetrotters game at the Box ' Elder High school. Dorothy Jeppseon of Mantua visited her mother, Florence Gardner Sunday afternoon. Im sure there were others . attending the Globe-trottegame but those who have come to my attention are the Roy Braeggers, the Blaine rs Roger Hendrickson and sons Travis and Clark, Clair Anderson, David and Trudy. They were accompanied by Marilyn Hendrickson and ' Lori Nickoliason. Marci Davie, daughter of Mr. and Mr; Alvern Davis was visiting her parnets over the week end. Marci is a nurse at the LDS hospital in Logan. Mr. and Mrs. John Hardy had the Lynn Hardy family from Elwood as their dinner guests. It was Lynns birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Ren Harrup of Idaho Falls spent Sunday at the Alan Hardy home. The Harrups are Lorraine's parents. Mrs.' Curtis Christensen of Honeyville accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Chester Christensen to Ogden Wednesday. They attended to some business matters and went through the Temple.
