Each ward in the stake presented their play either on Tuesday evening or Wednesday evening, at the ward cultural hall. Mantua's play was entitled Those participating in the play were Debbie Jeppsen who played the mother, Dean Hailing as father, Brad Hall the brother, Kathy Sara as Rosie and Terry Nelson, Dean Bigler, Dennis Allred and Brent Wyatt as the boy firends. The play was under the direction of Karen Hansen, ward drama director and Jana Richards as student director. Four young people from Mantua who sing with the Madrigals at Box Elder High school accompanied the group to Salt Lake City on March 17 where they sang for a Medical convention held at the Rodeway Inn there. Sixth-Elevent- h ft . and her roommate Kathy Evans from Salt Lake City and the Richards daughter Jolynn visiting from college. There was a lot of excitement created recently when the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Houser was brought into town. The home was brought in by Boise Cascade in two sections and then put on a foundation on their lot. This home is going to add to our community and the Housers ire anxious to get everything finished now so that they will be able to move in. They hope this is finished in another six weeks. Another exciting thing that to the Houser was when Mrs. Mrs. Houser's mother, Elizabeth Apgood won a TV set for from H & H Showkase having the oldest working RCA TV in the Ogden area. Mrs. Apgood said she had heard about the contest but didnt. figure she could ever win but her grandchildren talked her into entering the contest. She was so surprised when she happened household won. Italian Restaurant Following the singing, the Madrigals enjoyed eating out at the Della Fontanna, an Italian restaurant there in Salt Lake City. The four young people from Mantua were Karen Bigler, Diane Nelson, Ben Higley and Kathy Sara. While in Miami Beach they stayed at the Carillon Hotel and took the Greater Miami Beach tour and a tour of the Sea Quarium. They flew both ways by jet which they enjoyed very much. I received a letter this week from Elsie Garner Braegger in Thayne Wyo. She says that her son Dan Garner, who is also the grandson of Mrs. John Braegger of Thayne is reported as improving in the Star Valley LDS hospital at Afton, Wyo. Dan suffered multiple injuries in an automobile accident Jan. 5 and has been undergoing surgery specialized treatment ever since. and The Willard Lady Lions club met at the home of DeRae Christensen Friday night for their March meeting. Special guest was Mrs. Margaret Farmer, a color coordination teacher from Centerville. Mrs. Farmer gave individual help to the 14 members and guests present. Tri-Che- The Brigham City Community Theatre is conducting its first annual playwriting contest during the next few weeks. Purpose of the contest is to develop talent in the playwriting facet of the theatre. Any person who is a resident of Brigham City or surrounding communities is eligible to enter a manuscript with April 15 set at the deadline. Entries are being judged in two divisions, age 15 and older and up to age 15, and in three mini play (up to 10 minutes in categories length) ; one-aplays (up to one hour in length) , and plays (at least hours playing time.) Entries should be submitted to Margaret Hutchinson, 342 Greenwood. The grand prize will be a plaque and production of the winning play. She was the first grandchild for Jay and Ua, they are all wearing happy buttons. Down from Dietrick, Idaho visiting this past week were Wallace and Clair Bigham. While here they also stopped to visit with the Warner Stoddard family. Jerry Jorgenson treated her Sunday school class of six and seven year olds to triple decker ice cream cones on Sunday. This Birthday Celebration Celebrating a birthday last Friday was Shawn Owens, son of Bryce and Ruth Owens, Ruth said she thought their was at least 40 children there, when in reality there was only about 12. Shawn was five. Happy birthday to you. Expected home on leave this week is Terry Canfield son of Homer and Elsie Canfield. Terry will be on leave until April 17. Terry has a new baby that he has only seen in pictures so this will be an extra special treat for him. When he gets his new assignment his wife Pat, and baby will go with him.
