A branch of the Church' of Saints Jesus Christ of Latter-da- Twenty-on- e candidates were in the field when the deadline for filing on the Democratic ticket closed Thursday at 5 p.m., it was announced by K. B. Olsen, county clerk. Of these, 12 were Republicans while nine had filed on, the Democratic ticket. Only five positions are at stake. y was organized at a meeting held Sunday morning, July 22, in the LDS Indian chapel located- - at 319 East Seventh South. Presiding at the meeting was Glen M. Bennion, president of South Box Elder stake. The newly organized branch will be a part of the South Box Elder stake. Named as president of the branch was Don Hunsaker, with Samuel Shing as first assistant and Christian Windchief as second assistant. Donald Dickson was sustained as branch clerk. Fonnesbeck was born in Logan in 1911, a son of Christian and Marie C. Fonnesbeck. The family moved to Howell while he was still p small child, where his father, a pioneer of Howell on dry homesteaded Valley, farm land In the valley. He was educated in the Box Elder county schools. Fonnesbeck Is an active member of the LDS church, having served as a stake missionary in the Bear River stake during Hig-ginso- Emery E. Wight, veteran Scouter from this area, filed Thursday morning as a candidate of the Democratic party counfor the office of four-yea- r ty commissioner. An active member of the LDS church, he fulfilled a three-yea- r mission to New Zealand. He served as bishop of the Harper ward for 12 years and has since been a member of the North Box Elder stake High Council for the past 11 years. Hunsaker grew up in Box county and has been connected with the livestock and farming business all of his lifefel-d- time. Active - in civic and political interests, he has previously served as a county commissioner in this county and has also served two terms as mayor of Tremonton. At the present time he, is a director in the Utah Wool. Growers association and also a director of the Utah Wool Marketing association. In the LDS church, Hunsaker served as a member of the Tremonton First ward bishopric for a period of nine years and was also a member of the Bear River stake YMMIA board for several years. Hansen, 240 North First East, announced his cancounty didacy for four-yea- r commissioner on the Republican ticket last week. Hansen received his education in the elementary schools of Brigham City, the Box Elder High school and the Brigham Young college at Logan. He is a veteran of World War I and has been a member of the American Legion Post 10 for 36 years and served as its com - r mander. He worked for 22 years in the Security Savings bank and the First National Bank of Brigham City. He served as a Brigham City councilman for six years and as Box Elder county asses sor for four years. He has just completed his fifth year as health officer of Brigham City. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-dar Saints, he fulfilled a mission to Australia. He served for three years in the Brigham City Fourth ward bishopric and for nine years as bishop of the Brigham Eighth ward. He married Beatrice Bradbury. They have three living children.
