TO IT EVERY HOURj The Friendly Store ror Men "Mac Ntwt-Jovnu- The Brigham City Peaches skidded into second place in the second half Industrial League race as the result of a 13 to 5 loss to Magna in Rees Pioneer park last Wednesday evening. It was their own fault that Magna swept to an easy victory. The Peaches looked listless and turned in the same brand of ball as the visitors moved to a 6 run lead before the locals scored. Walks, sloppy fielding and throwing and four hits gave the Magna team 5 runs to work on in the first inning and the Peaches never pressed them for the rest of the game. Big John McGurk kept teasing the Peaches batters all night with a slow bending curve and his soft fast ball that worked the corners all evening long. Off of his offerings, the Peaches were able to scratch but six hits, one of them a tremendous home run by Del Nichols that carried to the fence In the left center field. That drive would have cleared the fence in .center field, but Del pulled it toward left field and Barten, Magna left fielder, turned and moved back out of the lights before the ball sailed over his head and bounced into the fence at the point where the west road and the fence meet Carl McConnell called Wednesday to say that his arm was sore and he would be unable to pitch the game, so Bud Powers was called on to hurl the game. But was relieved by Troxel in the second inning and Frank hurled a very good game until he lost control in the top of the eighth inning. Yates was called in to finish the game for the Peaches. Next Wednesday, the Peaches will have to be more on their toes than they have been for the last two games as the American Fork team comes to Rees Pioneer park for the first time in the second half. The Forkers won the first half race and they will be out to slow up the Peaches even more than they have been slowed in the last two games. l, was Harold Dade, (Negro lad who recently fpughta series of fights with Keith In Salt Lake City.
