Kinkead, a recent grad uate of Utah State Agricultural college and now a farm man agement supervisor on the Nav ajo reservation. A two year drouth has result ed in poor range conditions but the main problem is over-graing, he reported. In his district livestock is the principal source of income with some farming being carried on, Sheep are the most numerous followed by horses, cattle and goats. Many Navajos still count their wealth by the number of horses they have, but agricultural agents are beginning to con vince some of them that they Should replace them with sheep, he said. A livestock improvement pro gram, a new tribal council, and a revolving loan fund are aid ing the Navajos, he stated.
