After the regular opening exercises, correspondence from the Central company was read by Oneta Thorne, the secretary. county president of the D.U.P. gave a report of the pioneer convention held in Salt Lake City recently. Doreen Wheeler and Mrs. NorI ma Jensen sang two songs, Dont Know Why I Love You and a Spanish selection, Ranchers. They were accompanied at the piano by Dorothy Wheeler. A sketch of the life of James G. Willie, a prominent pioneer of early Utah was read by Margaret Jenson. The Welch in The lesson, Utah was given by Sarah II. Ilorsley. Lillian Secrist reported 15 visits to the sick and home bound. Announcement was made of the county convention of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers to be held November 16. Refreshments were served by Alfreda Jepperson, Rhoda Hansen, Sarah Longson, and Maud Anderson to the 27 members present. Mrs. Able S. Rich Returns From Visit With New Grandchild S. Rich returned October 25, from a three-weekstay in California as the guest of her son and Mr. and (Mrs. Carlyle family, Rich, of Santa Barbara Mr. and Mrs. Rich became the parents of a baby daughter on October 7. The baby, named (Melinda, has an older brother, nine years old Michael. While in California, Mrs. Rich Mr. visited in Ventura iwith and Mrs. A1 Pratt, former Brigham residents, and with Mrs. Richs neice and her husband, President and Mrs. Oscar Mr. McConkie is president of the Southern California mission for the L. D. S. church. She also visited with another neice and her family, Mrs. Rex Roberts, who resides at Santa Barbara. Elder Bill Grant of Salt Lake City, missionary who went to England with Elder Davis and also returned with him, and Elder Davis were the speakers. They related a number of missionary experiences while away from home. They told that their method of preaching was by holding cottage meetings, street meetings, distributing tracts and public gatherings whenever possible. Mrs. Littiewood played an organ selection titled Consider and Hear Me. Bishop Knudsen made closing remarks and after the congregation sang "We Thank Thee O God, for a Prophet, the benediction was pronounced by J. Carlos Sederholm. Thirteen Junior girls of the Fourth ward of Brigham City has a chicken dinner, Wednesday evening at 7:30 oclock, with Helen May Ridd, teacher, supervising games lor the crowd. The dinner was held at the home of Marilyn Kotter with each of the girls bringing part of the dinner.
