State Road commission em- ployees report that they have completed cleaning up the Golden Spike monument site at Promontory station, and it is now in readiness for the annual Golden Spike ceremony which will take place on May 10. They also made a request that some publicity be given to the fact that some of the new direction signs erected by the State Road commission along the road between Corinne and Promontory, have been defaced by vandals shooting at them, and that others have completely disappeared. It is very unfortunate that these road direction signs cannot be maintained in good order, they pointed out, as they are the only means tourists who visit the site have of finding the way to this historic spot. Since a special effort is being made to attract visitors to this area, the efforts 6f the State Road commission to make the site more attractive are much appreciated by the Box Elder Chamber of Commerce and the Golden Spike committee, and any efforts to apprehend those who are doing this damage will be appreciated by both the State Road commission and the Chamber of Commerce. ward recreation hall.
