A. Bundy, general chairman of Brigham City's Know Your Automobile Dealer Week committee. The peak, Bundy said, was reached in 1931 when 2,965,000 vehicles were hauled to the scrap heap. Motorists share with dealers and manufacturers the credit for this increased longevity of enhanced usefulness of the average U. S. motor vehicles, Bundy pointed out. Similarly, all motorists are invited to share in of Brigham Citys celebration Know Your Automobile Dealer Week, October 31 to November 5, which will be under the sponsorship of local automobile dealers. Given Better Care Both during the war and in the early post-wa- r years, motorists have taken better care of their vehicles than they did in r years, he said. Automobile and truck buyers in this area are getting bigger values today for their automobile dollars than they did in the good old days more than a score of years ago. We invite car and truck owners throughout this trade area to join with their automobile dealers in observing Know Your Automobile Week October I 31 to November 5, he added. am confident that if they will consider the following facts they will agree that they have reason to join us in celebration of the progress made by our industry in recent years: Reasons To Celebrate 1. In 1925 the average vehicle had accumulated only 25,740 miles when it was retired at the age of 6.5 years. 2. In 1917 the average vehicle was scrapped only after 103,000 miles and 12.25 years of service. In other words, Bundy pointed out, the mileage span of cars the best measure of value has been more than quadrupled, thanks both to better construction by manufacturers and improved maintenance and repair service by the dealers of Brigham City and their dealers throughout the country. They kept the old cars and trucks rolling during the war when the factories were turning out supplies and equipment for the Armed Forces. Similarly they kept them in good operating condition insofar as possible during the early postwar, vvhil materials were scarce and demand for new cars was terrific. In addition, supplied cars to their customers as rapidly as they could get them from the factories. But that is only part of the story. In addition to getting four times as many miles of service out of recent model cars as they did in 1925, motorists are getting today .far (better cars in every way in riding comfort, ease of operation, safety, beauty, power and economy of operation. The progress of the automotive industry has bene-fitteeveryone so everyone has reason to celebrate during Brigham Citys big Automobile Dealer Week. Gien Andersen, President. L. A.
