Mrs. Data tried to prevent her husband from using the weapon and in the struggle which ensued the revolver was discharged wounding Ferrara 60 , badly he died within forty mhv utes. Thursday was Columbus Day in Bingham and it seemed even the dogs were out to celebrate the event, as we- - noticed dogs wearing the Italian colors. Thru the offort of City Clerk Francis Quinn, when he held the legis-lative chair, Columbus Day was designated a State holiday and the people of Bingham appre-ciated the fact by closing its Banks and business houses, get-ting out and enjoying Columbus Day. A parade was formed by Columbus Lodge, No. 68 of the local Italian Society and marched to the public schools of Bingham where they were joined by prac-tically all of the children and their teachers, and paraded the Main street headed by the fam-ous John Held band of Salt Lake City, with John in charge. Af-ter which Judge E. E. Dudley delivered one of his timely and capable orations from the porch of the Bingham Mercantile Co. The John Held orchestra of Salt Lake City furnishing the music. U. S. OFFICIALS' TO VISIT BINGHAM . At the request of the Depart-ment of Utah, the sub district office of the U. S. Veteran's bu-- reau will start two squads of ; men over the state this month : for the purpose of aiding all former soldiers who desire to do so to reinstate their insurance taken out during the Wary It is only necessary to pay for the month on which the insurance was allowed to lapse; and the current month for the amount j of insurance actually continued order to - become reinstated. Mr. E. A. Littlewood contract representative of the Veteran's bureau will be in Bingham on November 1st and will confer with any of the World war vet-erans who wish to reinstate. Any matter pertaining to war claims tr allowances not finally settled should be taken up with I members of this squad. - Bingham Society Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Cole and family of Sandy have moved to Bingham and will make their future home here. Miss Mae Teter and her vis-itor from Jerome, Idaho, Miss Irene Grauel were Salt Lake Lake visitors on Thursday last, they attended the State Fair. E. E. Mrs. P. Cullerton motored to Salt Lake City on Wednesday and visited with friends. Mrs. Archie Stewart visited with friends in Sandy two or three days this week. A bundle shower was given in honor of Miss Kate Stephen at her home at the Highland Boy on Sunday afternoon.1 A large number of friends were present. Wedding announcements have not been given out. Miss Lillian Trtegaskis and Miss Kate Stephen were Salt Lake visitors the past week. Mrs. Kate Ford entertained on Thursday at Markum Gulch in honor of the birthdays of her two grandchildren Mona and Cornelius Ford. Those who en-joyed the three course luncheon and games were Aileen, Billy and Bobby Burke. Morris, former Re-publican County chairman, W. H. Stenacher, Republican can-didate for County Commissioner, with Dave Mills Government Prohibition officer visited in camp on Wednesday last and where taken around camp by their friends. Mrs. Ida Will-iams of Salt Lake City who has charge of many political cam-paigns in Bingham is back at her old stand at the Republican headquarters. "KID" TAPPERO ENTHUSE BOXING FANS "Kid" Tappero, at the Man-hattan club at Salt Lake City on Monday last pleased the boxing fans by some of his clever work with Art Brugger, a brother of Walt Hart. The four round bout was declared a draw. Both boys slugged away at each other during the whole bout. Tappers was quick in his movements and Brugger was unable to land him. I DOCTOR STRAUP 1 RECOVERING 1 W'e note with pleasure of the improved condition of Dr. F. E. Straup at the L. D. S. Hospital at Salt Lake City. Dr Straup 1 from latest reports is once more -- "'! if able to sit up and meet some 1 of his friends. Dr. Paul S. Rich-- ; ards of BoSton, who has held 3 important positions in different hospitals of that city has taken 4 , charge of the Bingham Hospital ! with Dr. Straup's patients.
