McMULLIN ... ... f JOHN T. WEST, , ELECTION TUESDAY IS LANDSLIDE FOR INDEPENDENT PARTY DR. EM CHOSEN McMillin, Larrick, West and Nerdin Selected as Trustees by large majorities; Result in doubt until election day; Independents dose campaign with enthusiastic meeting. The election Tuesday was a landslide for the Independent Party, Dr. J. F. Flynn candidate for president of the town board, receiving a vote of 884 as compared with 418 cast for A. J. Sorenson. . " Not for many years has so much interest been shown in a local election, more than 1300 votes beinsr cast. - The vote for trustees follows: . T. H. McMillin, 919; T. A. Masters, 443; A. C. Larrick, 80; F. E. Dean, 463; J. T. West, 864; R. Casper, 362; James Nerdin, 793; S. J. Dunsmore, 372. Mr. McMillin acted as chairman of the Independent Rally Monday night and made the first address. He spoke of his war record and recalled the admonition ad-monition of his mother that "she would never see him again than to know he had failed to do his duty over there." ' Larrick, West and Nerdin then addressed ad-dressed the large audience, stressing the need for a change. Dr. Flynn was then introduced and was given an ovation. He outlined his platform and pledged his efforts if elected to a bigger and better Bingham. Bing-ham. Dr. Flynn declared that his administration admin-istration would be one which would work to the benefit of every citizen in the community. He commended I the efforts made to keep the streets of the town in good condition and pledged a continuation of this program. His outline of his future policy with ', respect to the various activities of the town, such as the fire departments, water system and other phases of the community life, was greeted with X- hearty applause. Music was furnished by the Criter-i' Criter-i' ion quartet of Salt Lake, Prof. Carl i Fieldsoe and the Kappele sisters. Both parties conducted a vigorous campaign for several weeks an the re-s re-s suit was much in doubt up until elec- ' tion day, when reports received re vealed that the Citizens' ticket had in all probability gone down to defeat. Candidates on both tickets are splendid types of citizens and the management man-agement of the town by either party, would have meant a good and efficient administration. , Now that we have elected Dr. Flynn ' &r flis associates The Bulletin urges THhey be given the hearty support of every citizen of the community. No town or city can make progress as long as there are factional interests. Party lines must now be forgotten and a movement started for a better and more prosperous Bingham. We believe all the people of Bingham Bing-ham have the highest regard for Dr. Flynn and his associates and are confident con-fident that they will conduct the . town's affairs in such a manner as to v.. -" oring credit to themselves and every citizen of the community. The defeated candidates should realize real-ize that not all can win and that they can now show their loyalty best by getting in and supporting the elected board one hundred per cent i |
