Show KNIGHT WOOLEN MILLS MANAGER RETURNS Manager John S. Smith of the Knight Woolen Mills has returned from a six weeks trip to manufacturing manufactur-ing centers of the East and to Washington Wash-ington In the Interest of the Woolen Mills Company, investigating the opportunities op-portunities for securing money for rebuilding, obtaining machinery, etc. Mr. 'Smith will present a complete report re-port of his trip to a meeting of ' the Woolen Mills Board to be held here tomorrow at 2 o'clock. Mr. Smith states that $200,000 for rebuilding can bo secured from the government. The terms on which the loan will be made will be presented at the board meeting. If it is decided to rebuild, work will be commenced as soon as possible and the buildings pushed to completion. On account of the difficulty In securing se-curing new machinery, Mr. Smith Is of the opinion that the new plant can not be ready for use till about next July. Hie bought some second hand carding and spinning machinery, which has been shipped, and which Is expected to arrive- at any time. This will be Installed in the building now used for the manufacture of clothing and some other quarters provided for the garment factory. With the card-I card-I and snlnnintr machinery set ud the manufacture of cloth will be resumed on a limited scale In the present buildings, build-ings, as the looms and weave sheds were saved from the fire. iMr. Smith has already received from the Houghton Construction Company of San Francisco plans for a new factory, which will be given consideration it rebuilding Is decided upon. |
