She was married to William-S. William-S. Merriken in Randolph in July 1937. Ho died in 1949. She had also been married to Mr. Ford and divorced. Surviving her are a son, William S. Merriken and a daughter, Miss Linda Rhea Merriken, Kearns; a sister, Mrs. Helga V. Holmes, Murray Mur-ray and a brother, Holger V. Foranea, Copperton. Funeral services were held Wednesday Wed-nesday at I I a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Kearns. Burial was in the City Cemetery. FUNERAL SERVICES FOR MRS. RHEA MERRIKEN HELD WEDNESDAY A former Bingham resident, Mrs. Rhea Gunhild Merriken, 47, of 4311 W. 5740 South, Kearns was killed Sunday morning about 5:50 a.m. when she was thrown through the windshield of the car in which she was riding when it crashed into a abutment of a narrow bridge at 2210 W. 6200 South. Hospital attendants at-tendants said Mrs. Merriken suffered suf-fered head and neck injuries. It was believed she died almost instantly. in-stantly. Driver of the car was Robert E. Ford, 49, of 92 N. Main Street, Midvale, former husband of the victim. He suffered lacerations of the shoulder and arms. When the auto hit the bridge, its hood which opens next to the windshield, flew up, and Mrs. Merriken Mer-riken was thrown against it, accord ing to Salt Lake County Deputy Sheriff Bill Lehman Jr., who investigated. in-vestigated. Deputy Lehman said the car was traveling west on 6200 South at the time of the accident. The stretch of highway leading up to the bridge is about 30 feet across, and funnels into the 16 foot wide bridge. The auto was demolished. Mrs. Merriken was born August 14, 1914, in Bingham Canyon, a daughter of Victor and Elvira Rod-es Rod-es Forsnes. She attended schools in Bingham Canyon and was graduated gradu-ated from Bingham High School. She was employed by Kennecott |
