Carter of Salt Lake City returned home Tuesday morning from South Gate, j Calif., where they went to attend j the funeral of their brother, Oliver ; W. Carter, who passed away last I Thursday. I Oliver W. Carter. 64. of South ; Gate, Calif., former resident of j Eureka, Bingham and Salt Lake J City, passed away at his home in ; South Gate Thursday, October 1 6, j of a heart ailment, according to word received here by relatives. A son of Willman P. and Christine Zundle Carter, he was born Oct. II, 1894, in Payson, Utah. He was one of ten children, three girls and ; seven boys. At the age of 23 he joined the U. S. Marines and was honorably discharged Sept. 6, 1919. He was a member of the LDS church. South Gate Second Ward. Prior to moving to California, he had worked in the May Day mine in Eureka and as shift boss at the Apex Mine in Bingham. A member of long standing of V.F.W. No. 1732 of South Gate, he also belonged be-longed to the Eagles, Aerie 2080 of the same city. He had been ill the past ten years with a heart ailment which claimed his life. Surviving Sur-viving him are his widow, Vera Lee Carter; a daughter, Mrs. Don-j Don-j na Merle Roof; a . stepdaughter, ' Mrs. Dorothy Carver, all of South Gate; four brothers, Harold and Raymond B. Carter, Salt Lake City; Willman C. (Bob) Carter, Bingham and Lester Carter, Avenal, Calif.; five grandchildren, and three greatgrandchildren. great-grandchildren. ' Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 20, at South Gate. Interment was in Cypress Cy-press Lawn, Rose Hills cemetery, Whitticr. Calif. MARK B. FEATHERSTONE Funeral services for Mark Bo'.ey Featherstone, 55, former Bingham resident, who died in a Lehi hospital hos-pital Friday, October 17. at 5:30 a.m. of a heart ailment, were held Monday, October 20, in the Lehi Third Ward Chapel at I p.m. Mr. Featherstone was born Sept. 25, 1903, in American Fork, to Thomas and Mary N. Boley Featherstone. Feath-erstone. He married Rachel M. Greenland May 13, 1925, in Highland, High-land, Utah county. He was employed em-ployed as engineer by Kennecott Copper Corp. at the Bingham mine. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Surviving him are his widow; sons, daughters, Mrs. Dean (Mary Rae) Nayjor, South Jordan; Mark Stanley Featherstone, Provo; Charles Charl-es Thomas Featherstone, Donaldson Donald-son AFB. S. Car.; Lloyd G. Feather-ctone, Feather-ctone, Layton; Mrs. Bruce (Carol) Walters, Pleasant Grove; Mrs. Sheldon Shel-don (Arlene) Ewell, Mrs. Juanita D. Wright, Lyn G. Featherstone, all of Lehi; 17 grandchildren; brother, bro-ther, sister. Burial was in American Fork cemetery. o |
