Show HUNT MISHAP FATAL SUNDAY TO C. J ARCHIBALD Funeral services for Clifford James Archibald, 47, of 223 3rd East, Copperton, Bingham Canyon, Can-yon, victim of a deer hunting accident, were held Thursday, October 25, at 11 a.m. in Copper-ton Copper-ton LDS Ward Chapel with Bishop Dean Malan officiating. Mr. Archibald was shot and I killed instantly by a stray bullet i about 9:30 a.m. Sunday, October ;21, while deer hunting on Boom-icr Boom-icr Flat 11 miles northwest of the head of Daniels canyon. His body I was found by a brother in law, J. II. Howell, Portage, Box Elder County. He had been shot in the back. The bullet had gone through the right shoulder and out the front of the neck. Wasatch Was-atch County Sheriff Eugene D. Payne said he probably was killed kill-ed instantly. The body was found within a few minutes after the shooting. Sheriff Payne said the region is usually heavily populated with hunters and it would be difficult to determine who fired the shot. The victim had separated from hia three hunting companions when the accident occurred. Other members of his party were a son in law, M. T. Martin, Kearns, and H. A. Bullock, Orem. Mr. Archibald was born January Janu-ary 19, 1909, in Garland, a son of Alexander Halliday and Laura Thompson Archibald. He married mar-ried Nona Howell May 8, 1928, in hi gan and the marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple April 10, 1935. He had lived in Garland. Salt Lake City and Bingham and began be-gan work for Kennecott Copper .Corp. in 1936. He was a member j of the Church of Jesus- Christ of I Latter-day Saints, He is survived by his widow, Copperton; his mother, Mrs. Laura T. Archibald Udy; stepfather, step-father, Anis Udy, Garland; a son, Clifford Jay, Kearns; two daughters, dau-ghters, Nona Lyn Martin, Kearnsr and Sandra Burke, Bingham; and the following brothers and sisters, (Mrs. Ralph (LaLove) King, Richfield, Idaho; Mrs. A. K. (Zella) Johnson, Nephi; Mrs. Thomas (Laura) Patrick, Ogden; A.G. Archibald, Bingham; Duane Archibald, Garland; (Mrs. Richard Rich-ard (Elizabeth) Hutchins, Redwood Red-wood City, Calif; Dean T. Archibald, Archi-bald, and Dale T. Archibald, both of American Fork, and Mrs. Jack (Gwen) Lavender, Ogden; also seven grandchildren. Interment was in Memorial Gardens of the Valley under direction di-rection of Bingham Mortuary. o |
