Show PROPOSAL ON PUMPING STUDIED BY CITYCOUNCIL A proposal by Kennecott Copper Cop-per Corp. officials to install and maintain pumps and a tank in Dry Fork canyon to offset ore dumping hazards to the city's water supply was under consideration consid-eration by Bingham city council, according to Eugene Morris, city recorder. George C. Earl and Louis Buchman. Salt Lake City; L. C. Jones and H. L. Garrity, Kennecott Kenne-cott Copper Corp. officials, met with council members and explained ex-plained the corporation's proposal pro-posal for Dry Fork canyon, source of much of the city's culinary water. They said the company proposed pro-posed to install two pumps, one for standby use, and a 60,000-gallon 60,000-gallon water tank at the city water wa-ter tunnel to bypass waste ore dumping activities which reportedly report-edly have been dangerous to water users. The company would install the equipment and maintain main-tain it at no expense to the city. Maintenance over. 7000 to 8000 ft. of water main from the city water wa-ter tunnel to the mouth of Dry Fork canyon would reduce water costs to the city, it was reported. Water contracts have been returned re-turned to the city from the attorney attor-ney generals office and all were found to be in order. The council also approved applications ap-plications to the state road commission com-mission for class C road funds of $3597.30. |
