Show Local Happenings WOMEN'S CIVIC CLUB Fifty members and guests attended at-tended the Bingham Women's Civic Club fall card party held at the Civic Center on Wednesday Wednes-day evening, October 10th at 7:30 p.m. Mrs. Ada Carrigan was chairman of the event, assisted by Mrs. Betty Carrigan, Mrs. Inez Goff, Mrs. Helen Granquist and Mrs. Jean Kanniainen. Guests were greeted by the club president, Mrs. Agnes Steele and vice presidents, Mrs. Goff and Mrs. Granquist. A Halloween motif was carried car-ried out in decorations and refreshments, re-freshments, prizes being displayed display-ed on lace cloth covered table centered with a bowl of golden dahlias. Prizes were a bridge cloth and napkins, two table cloths and two handkerchiefs. Prizes at bridge were won by Mrs. Edna Jacobsen and Mrs. Charlotte Murano, at bingo by Mrs. Margaret Anderson and Mrs. Irene Throckmorton, and the door prize toy Mrs. Alice I Cunningham. WW WW day Monday visiting friends in Coppcrfield, Bingham and Copperton. Cop-perton. The W. L. Leatherwoods plan to return to Spokane on Friday. John Hocking, longtime resident, resi-dent, was taken to St. Marks hospital in Salt Lake City, Wednesday. Wed-nesday. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Morris entertained at a family dinner party last Saturday evening honoring hon-oring their son and daughter in law, Lt. and Mrs. Douglas Morris and son. Stephen. Other family members present were Mrs. A. D. Christensen, Mr. and Mrs. Josh Hawks and children. J. D. and Julee Ann, and Mr. and Mrs. A. Ivan Frame of Taylorsville. Mrs. Stan Jacques was hostess to her afternoon bridge club Wednesday. Special guests were Mrs. Marlin Schultz, Mis. Richard Rich-ard C. Rauer and Mrs. Walt Gran quist. Members present were Mrs. Manuel Susaeta, Mrs. Joe Brisk, Mrs. Ray Tatton, Mrs. Tom Carrigan and Mrs. Agnes Johnston. John-ston. Mr. and Mrs. Rex Mills returned return-ed October 14 from an enjoyable week's visit in Torrence, Calif., with their daughter and son in law, Mr. and Mrs. Fern W. Pett and children. While there Mrs. Mills and her grandson, William Howard, celebrated their birthdays. birth-days. Mrs. Mabel Brimhall and Mrs. Selma Bentley spent Tuesday morning going through the Salt Lake LDS Temple and afterwards after-wards enjoyed lunch together. Mis. Aimer A. Berg spent the day and was luncheon guest of Mrs. Herb Gust of Copperton Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Bentley had as dinner guests Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Porter of Murray Mur-ray and Mrs. Elizabeth Pratt and sons, George and Bill, of Orem. Her other son, Roy Pratt, is in San Francisco attending the Brotherhood Bro-therhood uf Locomotive Firemen and Enginemen convention. o MINERETTE CLUB The Minerette Club is pleased to announce they will be sponsoring spon-soring Miss Joan Johnson in the Miss Coppertonian contest. The committee in charge consists of the executive council members. Final contest will 'be held on October 31, and the queen will be crowned at the annual yearbook year-book carnival. The Minerette club also have hopes of winning the trophy at the carnival this year. The next few weeks will be spent in preparation prep-aration of their booth. Johnson of the marriage of Miss Barbara Aim Teasluy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William H. 'leasley of lancaster. Calif., to their son, F.lwood Thomas Johnson Jr. The young couple were married mar-ried October 5 in La.-; Vegas. Nev. Standing as best man for the biidegruotn was John Dee Mitchell Mitch-ell of Copperton. j After a short honeymoon in ; ' Las Vegas, the couple came to Utah to spend several days at the Johnson home before returning return-ing to California where the bride; groom is stationed with the air, force. On Monday evening, October j 15, Mr. and Mrs. Johnson, the j bridegroom's parents, entertain-1 ed at Wright's Cafe on Foothill Ithd. in Salt Lake City at aj twautifully appointed wedding dinner in honor of their son and new daughter in law. It was attended at-tended bv family members. A wedding theme was carried out in appointments. Centering the table was a three-tier white and silver wedding cake encircled by white mums centered with tiny pink mums which extended down the center of the table and around the crystal candalabra. Tiny white and silver placecards marked each place, setting and gracing the bride's place was a beautiful orchid corsage. Besides the honored couple and host and hostess, those bidden to attend the lovelv affair were Lynn Johnson, Mrs. Maude Erickson, Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Thomson, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence L. Anderson, 1 Mr. and Mrs. Clair D. Rasmus-sen Rasmus-sen and son Lee,. Mr. and Mrs. Harry O. Erickson, and Mr. and Mrs. James Vreeken. Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Smith and Lorie Jacobsen attended the U. of U. -Montana football game in Salt lake last Saturday night. at a dinner-dance held at the Rose Gardens Saturday evening, October 13. Mr. and Mrs. Josh Hawks and children, J. D. and Julee Ann, of Portage arrived last Wednesday for a visit with Mrs. Hawks' parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Morris Mor-ris and other relatives and to attend the UEA convention. They returned to Portage Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Guy Delia Lucia were dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Feraco on Wednesday, October 17. The occasion oc-casion celebrated Mr. Feraco's birthday. Literature meeting of Bingham Ward Relief Society will be held next Tuesday, October 23, at 10 a.m. at the church. The lesson "Study ofShakespeare" will be under direction of Mrs. Blanche Reid, class leader. All ladies of the ward are invited. A baby tender will be present. A combined affair, was the birthday party honoring Connie Johnson on her 12th birthday and a get-together of the Elvis Presley club, held at the John Mr. and Mrs. Stan Jacques motored to Randolph last Saturday Satur-day afternoon to attend the funeral fun-eral of a brother in law, Louis Miller. Mr. Miller was father of Lloyd Miller of Midvale, former Copperiield resident. Mr. and Mrs. Jacques spent Saturday nifiht and Sunday in Logan visiting vis-iting with Mr. Jacques' sister, Miss Myrtle Jacques. Mrs. O. G. Muir attended a DAR luncheon and meeting at the Art Barn in Salt Lake City last Thursday.
