Show Ben Lomond Beacon Page 2 it TTOuSnuIkninsj won The new Mormon Temple Square South Visitors Center which will be completed in 1978 will emphasize two Thanksgiving isnt even here yet, and throughout Ogden there are Christmas decorations up. I cant believe it! Why some of the merchants were getting their Christmas displays up even before Halloween. Im beginning to feel like Christmas is the only important holiday left on the calendar. Now, Im not saying people shouldnt be thinking about the season, because I thought I was being efficient in getting much of my Christmas shopping done in October, but Im not ready for decorations, singing ornaments and Christmas trees yet ... Give me a break. Believe it or not, last Saturday I saw a load of Christmas trees on a truck heading for some lot and Ive heard from several people theyve already got their Christmas record albums out. What happened to Thanksgiving? I always thought it was a time for family and friends to get together, enjoy each others company and give thanks before the hectic rush of Christmas Now began. Thanksgiving is almost lost in the shuffle. In our family, the traditional day for putting up the tree and decorating the house has always been Dec. 20, my mothers birthday. The past couple of years though, the trees have all been picked over by that date and neighbors wonder where our holiday spirit is due to the lack of decorations. I dont know how parents with small children even put up with things now. I know I used to get so excited I was hard to control, with the amount of Christmas I was exposed to, but with all the exposure kids get now, parents must be ready to commit themselves to a psychiatric ward by time the holidays are over. So please give me back a spooky halloween and a quiet Thanksgiving without the addition of Christmas carols and decorations! , themes, primary reports Elder Thomas D.
