Mathesonof Utah has declared the week of Friday August 24th through Monday September 3rd as Utah Thunderboat Week in the state. During that period, the Golden Spike Thunderboat Regatta will be held at Willard Bay. The Governor encourages all Utahns to observe this week in any appropriate manner. The School begins School started today Thursday August 23rd in the Weber County School District. Students will attend school for 180 school days. Kindergarten in the district is scheduled to begin on Monday August 27th. Dance slated " Wins election Sharon Parr of 2930 N. 1250 E. in North Ogden was District recently elected President of the of Utah Public Employees Association. She is currently an assistance payments worker for the Ogden office, a job she has held or five years. There are 10,000 members of the association in Utah. Tri-coun- ty Home Wisdom. The dance will be held in Kaysville for the rest of the month, after which it will move to Taylor. This only costs 2 and features a live band and freshments. Clinic to open Medical Clinic The proposed new McKay-De- e should be open on North Washington Blvd. in North Ogden City by early September of this year. The clinic will care for patients during off beat hours when regular doctors offices are closed. Hours of the clinic will be: Mondays through Fridays 5 p.m. until midnight and noon to midnight on Saturdays. On Sundays the hours will be 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. Dr. Bruce Taylor will supervise the clinic. Appointments will not be necessary. As soon as population rises enough, a regular hospital will be built in the North Ogden area. Classes begin The St. Benedicts Hospital will be holding a series of childbirth classes for prospective parents in the Ogden area. The first class was held last night, while the next class is set for tonight, Thursday August 23rd at 7 p.m. in the dining room of the hospital at 5475 S. 500 E. This Greek Orthodox Church serves all church members from Brigham City on the North to Layton on the South. Hours of the food fair will be from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and from noon until 9 p.m. on Sunday. The public is invited to this fair which will feature a variety of different foods. Theyre trailing in from Mesa, Ariz., on their way to the Knothead Jamboree. They will play live music at the Trail-I- n Dance Thursday, Aug. SO at 7:30 p.m. The dance is sponsored by the Dude's n Dolls square dance club at the Hayloft Square Dance Barn, 2770 W. North Plain Gty Road in Plain Gty. Cost will be $3 per couple. This lively group has been playing- together for SO years. They play weekly for western dancing in Mesa, and all over for square dancer at various festivals and national conventions. Johnny Schroeder, organizer of the group, plays the rhythm guitar and is a carpenter. Ray Gardner, fiddle player, also teaches music in school. Tony Cordasco, the bald barber, plays the bass. And Dave Beaty, lead guitarist, is an electrical engineer and electronics specialist. Everyone is invited to the After Party at II p.m. when Schroeders Playboys en- tertain with special music, songs, and lively humor. About 25 couples from Dudes n Dolls will trail up to Knothead, near West Yellowstone, dancing along the way, for the 24th annual Knothead Jamboree on weekend Labor Day (Saturday, Sunday and Monday) where Schroeders Playboys have provided music arid entertainment for at least the past IS years. The United State Golfers Association is sponsoring this tournament. Dahlberg, a 1978 Weber High Graduate is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Dahlberg of 3031 N. 975 E. in North Ogden. Funds separated. Projects which the booster club has done in the past include: donating $1,000 towards a batting machine, giving the school $1 000 for a P.A. system and supporting banquets and awards for outstanding athletes. This past year, the club sponsored for the first time ever, the giving of a gold watch to both the outstanding male and female athletes at Weber High School. The Weber High Booster Gub officers meet each 30 days on the third Wednesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. The general club meets every other month, also on the third Wednesday. Speakers for the clubs first general meetong on Wednesday August 29th will be Hal Lewis, a new football coach at Weber High and Coach Lee Dickamore. That meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. and any new prospective members are encouraged to attend. Company Team, composed of six Chambers brothers as well as eight others recently won first place this past season in the Pioneer Slow Pitch Softball Red Division. The team had a 1 season record and won the championship game by a convincing 15-- 5 score. The L.J.C. Company team has existed for five years, now and this year marked the teams second championship win. During the other three years, the team placed a consistent second. The L.J.C. Company teem is sponsored by the father Lionel Chambers of 230 N. 9-- 460 in North Ogden. The team is composed of six chamber brothers: Craig, Randy, Gary, Raid, Rodney and Kelly. There are also on the two brothers-in-lateam and five friends.
