A Plane crash kills pilot Two men from Riverdale were fourinvolved in a single-enginseater plane crash Monday afternoon at the Ogden Municipal Airport, leaving one man killed and the other in serious but stable condition in the hospital. Edward Allen Carlin. 37, of 1025 W. 4300 S., was believed to have been the pilot of the Beechcraft Bonanza, and was killed instantly upon impact. The passenger, Neil Duane Rash, 44, of 640 W. 4400 S., also of Riverdale, was rushed by Moss Ambulance to the McKay Dee Hospital, underwent emergency surgery Monday evening and was reported in the intensive care unit in critical but stable condition Tuesday afternoon. Weber County Paramedics, Moss Ambulance and the Ogden City Fire Department all responded to the 2:30 p m crash, but by the time they arrived, four to five witness who saw the plane lose power, had pulled the victims out of the plane wreck. The Fire Department was just on standby and did not have to put out a Tire at the wreckage. Art Haney, Ogden Policeman acting field supervisor at the time of the crash, said that witnesses at the airport said that the plane was taking off westbound on Runway 725 and got up td 7,500 feet when it apparently lost power and then went straight down, turning slightly to the left. The plane then came to rest just off the runway. Apparently, according to Officer Haney, Carlin and Rash were headed to Ashton, Idaho to return the plane to the owner. Ross Wynn, after being painted. Carlin operated a painting company at the airport, and painted planes from all over the country. According to Federal Aviation Administration officials , no flight plan had been filed with them by Carlin. Also, on Tuesday, officials out of Denver from the National Transportation and Safety Board came out to the airport to investigate the crash and determine the cause. Initial reports. Haney said, were that Rash was from an address in North Ogden, but it was later confirmed that he was from Riverdale. EXTRA! EXTRA! Reodoll about world peace! newsboy yelled.
