Sixteen young women are competing for the title that will be held June 30th at 8 p.m. at Weber High School. The competition is held as a prelude to the North Ogden Cherry The Days celebration. winner will be eligible to compete in the Miss Utah pageant to be held next June. The winner of this scholarship pageant will be the reigning queen over Freia Parker Lesia Pittman Tammiiynn Brenda Hogan Peterson Cherry Days festivities, the week of July 4th. Pageant Director Karen Larsen says the preliminary judging will be June 30th at the home of Darwin and Karen Larsen of Pleasant View. Contestants will then compete in swim suits to be judged on their figure, poise and facial beauty. This competition is closed to the Miss Here public. Miss and Photogenic Congeniality will be chosen. After, individual interviews with the judges will complete the afternoons events. Later that night, the talent and evening gown competition will be held at Weber High. Nonna Aardema Haworth Miss Bonni Haworth is a graduate of Weber High School. She is now attending Weber State and is in the Otyokwa Sorority. She is active taking piano lessons and she enjoys art. She will present a dance routine for her talent part of the com- petition. Her hobbies are collecting cacti, painting, sewing and reading. She also enjoys waterskiing and all outdoor sports. Kathy Roberts is active in her church. She teaches Jr. Sunday and has held many church positions. She loves to work and be around children. She enjoys all sports and she likes to camp and travel. She especially enjoys snow and water skiing, swimming and jogging. She plans to go into social work as a career. She will present a disco dance for her talent. She is 17 and a graduate of Weber High. Jacqueline D. Shepard considers herself a nature lover. She loves thinking about life and all it has to offer. She also loves to learn. She enjoys quilting, crocheting, and growing plants. She participates in racquetball, tennis, softball, basketball and skiing. She has had special training in flute, piano and dancing. Her specialty is piano and she will perform a piano solo as her talent. She is 18 and plans a career as a child a Junior volunteer at McKay Dee Hospital. She enjoys and cooking, backpacking knitting. As sports, she likes tennis, softball and skiing. She plans to attend college and eventually build up the music program and cultural opportunities in Weber County. She will perform a violin solo. She has studied piano for six years and violin for seven. She has taken drama and is currently learning guitar. Miss Gail Knight was a Warriorette for three years and was the president this past year. She was a cheerleader for two years. She loves to work outside and with people. She lives on a dairy farm. She has had training in organ for three years and has taken dance for five years. She has plans to be a courtroom reporter. She plans to get married and have a family. Her hobbies are sewing, cooking snow and water skiing, Miss Freia Parker likes swimming. She has swam competitively for many years. She has a special interest in handicapped children, especially the deaf.
