We feel it is a privilege for us to host the regional tournament and hope that youll feel at home in the Center. The new arena is more of a jewel box for athletics than a mere playing surface. Superlatives and large numbers easily fall into any discussion of the facility. For example, 12,000 cubic yards of concrete were used in the construction which tips the scales at 50 million pounds. Another 345 tons of steel were used, and 1,750 tons of concrete reinforcement. The dome is nearly 310 feet across and is situated 101 feet above the playing surface. The surface of the dome covers an area of two acres and is supported by 166 tons of wood beams. The roof itself weighs 450 tons and attached to it is another 150 tons of scoreboards, lights, speakers and other items. The building has 11,592 theater-typ- e individual seats made of molded plastic and equipped with arm rests. The first 26 rows of the seats all the way around are also equipped with cushions. Four visiting locker rooms are incorporated into the design, all carpeted and outfitted. There are also dressing facilities for marching 4130 Riverdale Rd. But none of these images are complete without forward Kathy Miller pouring in the buckets. Weber State Womens basketball, in fact, is seldom even mentioned without the name Miller attached to it and its a name that commands a great deal of respect. Playing her third year for the varsity, Kathy Miller has a reputation for playing basketball that is unprecedented. Famous for her games (and a game last year that broke all records even the men's), IN THE NEWEST STYLES & COVERS BEAUTIFUL LONG WEARING HERCULON COVERS units, members, and visiting stars for the concerts and plays scheduled in the building. Another- - outstanding feature is the nearby parking. Space exists completely around the building for 3,000 cars with no patron having to walk more than 300 yards to an entrance. We hope your visit here is a comfortable one and that youll be returning again soon to the jewel box of Wildcat athletics.
