Speaking of that rest is it really desired? One hears the wish so often voiced: 0 to have some If I could only go to bed early I quiet ! But when invitations come pouring in the trend We are really waking of thought is changed. Hasnt it been dull and stupid, up again! SOCIAL NOTES. offered. 1 Mrs. David B. Hempstead gave a very pretty luncheon on Saturday afternoon. Mrs. W. T. Dinwoody, Mrs. Reid, Miss Bacon, Miss Katz and Miss Afton Young were her guests. Mr. Max Hanauer gave a charming little luncheon at the Exchange in honor of two of Salt Lakes visitors, Miss Davenport of Boston, and Miss Toulmin. The table was artistically decorated in daffodils. The guests were Mrs. J. M. Bidwell, Miss Nason, Miss Adelaide Nason, Miss Lowe, Miss Toulmin and Miss Davenport. jolly party composed of the Misses Nason, Miss Ora Harkness, Miss Toulmin, Miss Alff, Miss Hempstead, Miss Burke and Miss Lowe went to Ogden in Mr. Bancrofts caron Tuesday. A drive up the canyon had been planned, and notwithstanding the snow storm, was mightily enjoyed. Fascinators were substituted for hats and jacket collars turned up, and the snow only enhanced the pleasure. A delicious lunch was served on the car, and the Misses Nason received the verdict of a very delightful day from all their guests. A Mrs. Clarence T. Brown assisted by the ladies of the Congregational church, will give a charity tea at the parsonage on March 12th, for the benefit of the Aid society of that church. Much interest is being shown by the prominent men and women of the city, in the district nursing, or provision of nurses for the sick poor A meeting was held at the home of, of the city. Mrs. S. J. In the winter they will travel on the Continent. Mrs. Lane, Mrs. Casper Robertson and Mrs. Thompson are also in Paris. Miss Mary Louise Anderson, with Mr. and Miss McCarty, after a twelve days journey, joined Mrs. Anderson at Naples about the middle of February. Mrs. Kirkpatrick left on Thursday for an European trip, she too will land at Naples. Dr. and Mrs. Lindsay, Mrs. Hayward and Miss Toulmin sail in May for England. Miss May Critchlow is still studying in Berlin. Miss Kirkpatrick, Miss Ruth and Miss Constance are in Dresden. It has been decided The Cotillion club gave another of its very enjoyable parties at Christenson's on Friday evening. The employees of the F. Auerbach & Bros. establishment gave a dance at Christensons. Mrs. John T. Donnellan has gone to California. Maj. Girard has gone to Madrid. Mrs. Burke and the Misses Burke have delayed their departure for American Falls, Idaho, until the middle of March. The Saturday afternoon sewing club met with Miss Alice Sharp. Mr. and Mrs. Joplin are at the Normandy. Mrs. Stewart arrived from Philadelphia on Tuesday. She visits with her sister Mrs. J. M. Zane. Miss Emma McCornick is in Santa Cruz. She is recovering from influenza and will return to this city in about twTo weeks. Mr. Richard A. Colburn has gone east. The regular fortnightly hop at the post was held Friday evening. Mr. Heintz has gone to Snn Francisco. Mrs. John Dern gave a card party at her home Wednesday evening. It was a very enjoy-- ' able evenmg. Mr. A. W.
